Traditional Vietnamese dress modeled in US
Updated : 1/24/2013 6:09:44 PM Voice of Vietnam

(VOV) - Ao Dai (traditional long dress) by designer Le Thanh Phuong will be on show as part of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival held in the US on January 25-26.

The special event will also draw the participation of fashion designers and artists from China, the Republic of Korea and Japan to celebrate the Lunar New Year holiday.

To prepare for the event, Le Thanh Phuong visited the US in mid-December to oversee the selection of models from around the country.

Extending eligibility to amateurs and students, Phuong deliberately chose models of Vietnamese heritage to best convey the Ao Dai tradition.

He then returned to the US on January 17, to prepare for the festival, with appropriate props such as lotus flowers and conical hats.

After the event, he will continue touring with more Ao Dai performances for Vietnamese communities around the US. Le Thanh Phuong studied at HCM City University of Fine Art and now owns “Saigon Tailors”.
