Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam has provided 100,000 USD to China to support its government and people in overcoming the consequences of recent devastating floods and earthquakes.

The assistance originates from the traditional friendship and spirit of mutual support between the two countries.

Torrential rain, flooding, and earthquakes have occurred in many parts of China since early June, causing severe damage and significant losses in both life and property./.

As I always said, failed to make Vietnam an ally of us - the nature ally to China is a big failure for China's diplomacy. We even defended them against USA invasion!
And our diplomacy is pretty bad overall

You don't understand Vietnamese.

What will you do if you are the leader of the nation, when Vietnam swallowed Cambodia and side with USSR?

It's not our failure of diplomacy, it's Lê Duẩn misadventure. We just had no better choice back in 1979.

War always be our last option, especially with Vietnamese which we trained, sponsored.

When your former ally turned against you, of course Chinese were very frustrated. We can not tolerate this.

China helped us against USA invasion. But later you invaded our Paracel Islands and cooperated with our enemy - USA. Also, you supported Khmer Rouge to kill thousand civilians in the South while you invaded us in the North, and took some islands in Spratly Islands later on.

Before criticizing against others, look at what you have done against them.

Do you have comprehending issues?
I am criticizing China!

And you forgot to mention Vietnam's invasion to Cambodia which triggered Sino-Vietnam war.

But anyway failed to prevent such thing from happening is still our failure.

That's power politics. Anyone broke the rule, consequence follows.
Soviet and Russian use of Cam Ranh facilities
THE SOVIET-VIETNAMESE TREATY 1978

Lê Duẩn misjudged international power politics and over estimated himself and Vietnam. His misadventure is devastating for Vietnam and Sino-Vietnam relationship.
Could Vietnam Have Avoided the 1979 War With China?

And by the way, you see how US punish Cuba? For damn 58 years since 1962, don't see when the sanction will end.

China just punished Vietnam for less than 10 years, and resumed normal diplomatic relations thereafter. China is quite forgiving if you are objective.

The world is a jungle, never changed.

It would be very difficult for Vietnam and China to get along even if 1979 and the 10 year border conflict afterwards did not happen. China has always wanted strategic control of the SCS, which eventually would have come to blows with Vietnam either way. Just look at how Chinese-Philippines relations deteriorated before Duterte came into power ... China and Philippines have never fought a war or had historical animosity but because of the SCS issue their relations eventually became strained. The only way to have great relations with Vietnam would be to stop exerting power over the SCS, which I doubt is something that is in China's strategic interest.

No way.
China need SCS, and get prepared for the price. Even China share SCS with Vietnam and Philippines, there will be no guarantee that bilateral relationship will be improved significantly for the long run.
The only way is by political settlement, which is impossible in foreseeable future.

The alternative is China rise, other minor powers concede. This is normal in human history, big power doesn't like to share the pie.

China went into 2 wars with the US so that the US won't be its next door neighbor. Would it be more favorable for China if it could make some concessions in the SCS, then to be surrounded with hostility in its own backyard?

Engaging with the Philippine and Vietnam to have bilateral relationship would benefit China's strategic core interest and it may keep the US daily pivot of the "freedom of navigation" out of the SCS raising further tension with China if some of these workable relationship contested such provacative movement by the US.

Or can China stand at it alone in confronting the US and its western allies?

Your analysis does have a point. China is no fool, of course we thought about that.

The problem is, if China give up some claim on SCS, settle the dispute once and for all, what will China get for sure? Nothing.

Bilateral relationship is something you can change from time to time, but border agreement once settle, you can't take it back.

Regarding Philippines, no offense, Philippines is not a sovereign country. It's not a country actually, it's a union. The law is only valid within Manila.

Vietnam has shared border with us, Vietnam need China friendship, not the otherwise.

China did concede some claims in SCS for Vietnam when two countries were in honey moon.
The best possible solution for SCS issue is all countries concede some claims.
I don't know whether such proposal has been raised up ever, it's a hard pill to swallow for any country.
But all countries can benefit from it if it can be solved permanently.

No one is expecting to give up whole SCS.
See my post, "The best possible solution for SCS issue is all countries concede some claims."

No, we need the dispute at least for quite a while.
