S. Korea is going the way of Japan, but might be even worse because their corporations are all owned by foreigners (Samsung) and they have less of a domestic market than either Japan or China, their economy is entirely at play by the US.
Their system is also a democracy, which means it takes exactly one right wing conservative term to wreck their nation.

Economic development is not directly related to ideology. Different countries are suitable for different roads in different periods, the model of China&Vietnam is not the only way to success. All roads lead to Rome.

And I don't think USA is a democratic country. USA is a free country, but it is not democratic.
The state is the tool for the ruling group to rule the ruled group. Democracy means that the ruling group is the people, not Wall Street.

Not ideology but stability, you can't have economic advancement without stability, for example Japan's advance was due to the chaos of the Korean war and the Vietnam War and it was then kneecapped by the US by a combination of puppets inside the government forcing out good leaders (Kakuei Tanaka), the CIA and the Japan's central bank. Since then, Japan declines.

USA is doing the same to S. Korea, it is now eating/controlling Samsung and heavily encourages conservative force to retake the country, all success made by Moon Jae-in would be lost. Still, if Lee Jae-myung win, USA would be dealt a heavy blow and S. Korea will continue to prosper.

USA has a deep state and the most powerful weapon, the mass media, it can essentially control the votes and demonize people who it doesn't like, so it doesn't matter if it's a democracy or not.

With the current economy, Vietnam should be able to refurbished and modernize its current sport complex for the 2022 SEAGAMES. I want to see Vietnam SEAGAMES 2022 promotion video which until now is still not exist.

I am just pragmatic and optimistic, hence I want to look straight into the truth, not avoid it with rosy painting articles.

The key to become a tiger economy ala Taiwan or Korea (of course, one can define tiger economy as Kenya, Egypt, Indonesia or Phillipines to satisfy the ego, but it is another point of discussion) is technology development, i.e. investment and achievement in R&D.

Number of WIPO patent filling from Vietnam is only around 20 – 30 per year (compared to nearly 20,000 per year of South Korea), and it has not increased in last 10 years, which shows not only the backwardness of Vietnam’s scientific and technological arena but also the under-investment and lack of focus of Vietnam’s economy, leading to total dependency on foreign capital and tech. Obviously, that is not what a tiger economy should be.

I have no doubt that Vietnam will become a great industrial power one day. Maybe twenty years from now, perhaps even sooner. I think it will definitely rank among the top ten in the world and will equal South Korea and Japan in a generation.

Vietnam university is still no good. A lot of their talents are in overseas and they have problems getting them back.

Vietnam has similar issues like Thailand and Philippines.. They have common issues large population and lack of development while Thailand makes it up for tourism but it still lacks insfrastructure.

Whereas North Korea actully has somewhat good insfrastruture compared to Vietnam but lacks the economy of vietnam due to sanctions

But Vietnamese people are the 2nd most discipline after Singapore in SE Asia. This will turn out well in long run.
