I understand many want to come back with a Vietnamese bride. A large number of young Chinese men fail to meet the criteria (income /assets - a home, car) to marry a Chinese woman. Cost of living is also much lower in Vietnam so their Vietnamese wages still goes much further than it does in China.

Foxconn, Apple's largest iPhone assembly partner, plans to invest about $ 270 million to expand factories in Vietnam.

According to Nikkei, the company wants to take advantage of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), just signed on November 15, to increase production in Vietnam. Last week, Foxconn just kicked off the LCD production line in Vietnam.

RCEP Agreement with 15 members including 10 ASEAN countries and 5 countries: Japan, China, Korea, Australia and New Zealand. RCEP will create the largest free trade area in the world, the size of nearly 27,000 billion USD, accounting for 30% of total global GDP, market area with more than 2.2 billion consumers.

Before this opportunity, Foxconn wants to take advantage of trade incentives to fully expand production lines in Vietnam. Although there are no details about the new products, Nikkei thinks that Foxconn will manufacture computer components such as monitors.

The group will also soon establish a local member company.

Although China is a member of the RCEP, the trade tensions between China and the US have prompted many companies like Foxconn to look for better production areas.

"The wave of investment in Vietnam by large corporations is very remarkable," Nikkei quoted Young Liu, president of Foxconn. Finding land in the North is "quite difficult," said Liu.

President Foxconn shared that this group is manufacturing many items in Vietnam, including TVs, electronic components and computers.

Foxconn currently has 5 factories in Vietnam, concentrated in industrial zones located in Bac Ninh, Bac Giang.

Although China still holds an important position with Foxconn, it still wants to increase output outside the country by a billion by 30%.

Moving out of China is also a common trend of many Apple partners such as Pegatron and Wistron. Pegatron has gradually moved its iPhone manufacturing business to India, while Wistron sells both iPhone assembly plants in China to another Apple partner, Luxshare.

The two companies mentioned above are also planning to invest in Vietnam, according to Nikkei.

Luxshare, the Chinese company that makes AirPods for Apple, is also looking to expand its factory in Bac Giang. Bloomberg quoted Mr. Nguyen Dai Luong, Vice Chairman of Viet Yen District People's Committee, as saying that Bac Giang has granted land to build a 16-hectare dormitory for Luxshare.

Mr. Luong said this decision came after the request from Apple.
