In 1997,after the Pyramid Schemes destroyed the economies of thousands and thousands of Albanian citizens and with the collapse of communism and the political situation turning volatile,a crisis,a small civil war started in Albania.

The country was filled with countless armories and warehouses full of weapons,since the Hoxha era. As some of you know,the communist regime in Albania was not only extremely oppressive,but also paranoid. Apart from building some 200,000 bunkers to protect against any enemy invasion,they had gathered a massive amount of small weapons. All that for a country with a population of 3,000,000 people.

Now the people were looting these warehouses and Soviet-made weapons,their Chinese versions and the Albanian-made clones of them started flooding the black markets of the Balkans and the entire world.

Soon,the UN sent forces from nearby countries. Here are some nice videos from AP. Check out the gear and weapons in each of them!

Hence why Albanian mafias are the most feared of all outside the cartels of Mexico. They have easy access to military grade weapons, the training to use them and plenty of men.
They destroyed the Jamaican gangsters in London in under a year.

Man there is no peace anywhere. Just saw yesterday that in south Italy there is one mafia who is controlling politicians and bureaucracy. In fact, army is launched to conduct operation in the forests.

I think New Zeeland is better. far from all conflicts.

There seems to be a rightful side in the communist-era Albania being paranoid. This was revealed in the bloodbath experienced during the disintegration of Yugoslavia. If I had two paranoid neighbors like Serbia and Greece, I would be paranoid too!

After Ukraine, the Baltic area and the Balkans are next. I'm sure you Greeks have noticed that too. I am afraid that the war environment will not leave Europe easily.

Hoxha tried to be friends with Tito first,but that didn't work. Then he was fanatically pro-Soviet. The USSR was telling them to become the farmland of the Eastern Bloc,but Hoxha refused and he wanted to make Albania a great industrial country,even if Albania didn't have resources and technology to become an industrial country. But he insisted.

Eventually,he cut relations with the Soviets and became best friends with the Chinese. Then he kicked out the Chinese as well. And the country become completely isolated.

Hoxha's regime was so paranoid,they tried to abolish religious names both Christian and Muslim and replace them with socialist names.

I can't find the exact article,but here's something from wikipedia. I remember I read somewhere about it.

State atheism became official policy, and Albania was declared the world's first atheist state. Town and city names which echoed Abrahamic religious themes were abandoned for neutral secular ones, as well as personal names. By 1968, Hoxha stated in a speech in that "Religion is a fuel kindling fires of all evils".[115] During this period religiously based names were also made illegal. The Dictionary of People's Names, published in 1982, contained 3,000 approved, secular names.

The amount of Soviet/Chinese/Albanian copies of Chinese weapons that was in their warehouses...that stocks was incredible. So much weaponry went to the black market,there were even documentaries about it. They gave a lot of equipment to Kosovo too,before or during the war.

I didn't know they had turf wars with the Jamaicans there. They said on TV that they contested with the Afghans for some parts of Athens or something like that.
