Pakistan, Japan agree to enhance bilateral cooperation, defence ties

Pakistan and Japan have agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation and defence ties to strengthen the existing cordial relations between the two countries in general and two air forces in particular.

The agreement was reached during the meeting of Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan and the visiting Vice Chief of Joint Staff of Japan Self Defence Forces Lieutenant General Takashi Motomatsu at Air Headquarters Islamabad today (Tuesday).

During the meeting, both the dignitaries discussed matters of professional interest.

Lieutenant General Takashi Motomatsu appreciated the professionalism of the PAF.

The Air Chief briefed the visiting dignitary about ongoing indigenization projects being taken up by PAF in recent years.

A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Air Force presented the Guard of Honour to the distinguished guest on his arrival.

It is pertinent to mention that this visit has been the first in seven years by any Japanese military dignitary.

I know the relationship between Pakistan and USA is thawing and there is a chance of surplus F-16s but F-15 is a different beast all together and setting up maintence, maintenance cost, pilot training will be costly and time consuming (unless Pakistani pilots already flying Saudi F-15s).
Japan has about 100 F-15s which will be sold to USA (or another buyer). Does Pakistan really need F-15s and is it worth it?
Do you think Pakistan might be interested in Kawasaki P-1? It’s a maritime patrol aircraft developed and manufactured by Kawasaki Aerospace Company.

I think these planes have same engine like F16s so it won't be issue plus there is requirement of twin engine Jett in PAF and we were after flankers if we have 100upgrade surplus F15 with same price of 50 SU 35 jets why not.rest Japanese defence products r very expensive better buy American instead

Japanwant to replace these with F-35 that’s way Japan won’t upgrade these. These are pretty old and not sure how much frame life left in them.

Best is we should talk with Trump administration again and look for LM move to PAK what they offering India with 10$ billion deal for local production of F21 they call new F16s would be best we need American tech access as well if we can have help from GCC would be best thing we have along JF-17. I am not in Fav of Russian Sus not good track record.
