Vertical Launch Astra Based Air Defence System (LLQRM) Under Development

And according to him range of that missile will be around 250 KM.

No.

250 KM range missile is under development. He said that we can make better than the best,

So what is the different between Astra VLS or maitri
and if astra is on they why we are going to maitri. Lots of confusion

Astra is developed as a BVR missile, not for agility in close combats. It neither have additional fins (like Python V) or TVC (like MICA) features to enhance that capability and that's where Maitri / MICA comes in. Again, just as in the Spyder SAM system, that includes 2 different missiles. Thanks to the MICA base, Maitri also could feature both seekers (IR & EM), but that needs to be seen in the final configuration of the project.
Akash and Astra are good base developments for India, but neither have the capability, nor the potential of the Barak 8 and Maitri co-developments. With the chance to put them on a variety of platforms in all forces (especially Maitri, from land based versions, to naval surface and sub launched once, up to close combat varients for IAF's fighter fleet). We just need to get these co-development done and focus on getting the most out of their potential.

Thats why i'm saying there is a separate SR-SAM independent of Astra/Maitri.
It will have every required features and N-Maitri will helps to speed up this project. Astra VL is just a rumor.
And it has reached fabrication stage. - DRDO

There is no naval Maitri SAM, but the same missile in a version for IA and IN, just as Barak 8 will have land and sea based applications. The link btw doesn't talk about a development, just about the tender for the Fabrication of QRSAM igniter canister assembly.

I know missile would be the same. But,the command & control architecture will be very different. That is the whole reason IAF version of Barak 8 taking more time to develop.
MoD only cleared for 9*40 = 360 missiles for IN.

The first mention was DRDO chiefs IIT lecture last year. And people like saurav jha confirmed it.
Looks like design stage is over.It would be interesting to see choice of Seeker.
It will be low cost opponent to CAMM missiles.
