I was thinking the same, not sure why the ministers have to go. I just posted what was reported.
Perhaps there is some rule that each CM must pick his/her own set of ministers?

Yes . The Cabinet is dissolved automatically if Prime minister / Chief Minister resigns or dies .
Because Council of ministers has no separate standing in absence of The ' Head ' who constituted it in first place .

Off course they can reconstitute same ' cabinet ' with new candidate as Chief minister - but technically it will be new Cabinet .

They can't just change the Chief minister 'alone' .
