Vedic University to be set up in Kerala

I agree...... I been to temple of several states across... and i found our temples are on of the best run temples (barring sabarimala)
Sabarimala is the only temple I've not visited yet, and since females between 5 and 50 can not visit the temple so I guess I'll 've to wait till I turn 50 Lol.

...... You can go to most of the temples wearing pants and shirt, where as most of the temples in Kerala it is not possible......
True!
Chandanam in my place - Male Gopi kuri and Female horizontal...
And also the finger to be used while applying sandalwood paste.

Well the reason we get bombarded with all those troll post is because of one reason...... BJP is yet to open is account in Kerala
Keralites 're religious but not dumb. In kerala BJP lacks a charismatic leader and a decorous past.

@nair
I've edited my line about the finger, i'm sorry for the blunder I had committed. <hitwall> Gosh!

Lol.... Thats a very long wait......... Sabarimala is believed to be the second highest religious place in the world where highest number of ppl visit on a particular season (after makkah)....Govt face several difficulties on providing facilities to the devotees..... and the infra is not adequate to accommodate the existing devotees....and people ignorance is another issue.... but improvement is significant...... probably in another 5 years we might see lot of change.......By the way Modi was supposed to visit sabarimala during last season.... but they postponed it to a monthly opening time.... dono when is he gonna visit.....

Forget leader, there are 2 factions and they fight among themselves........

I understood what you meant there...

Kerala should also consider building Dravidian University. Kerala is based in the Dravidian speaking region. According to many scholars Vedic Aryan invaders destroyed the Dravidian Indus Valley Civilization.
No. I destroyed it. I remember.

I was not aware of Modi's plans. But I guess as a vegetarian & bachelor, he should not 've much problem taking 40days fast, he's used to taking fasts. He was fasting during his Washington visit last year.

..
Like always....

What is the reason for this apparently ridiculous rule?

It makes sense!
The temple's location is such that men avoided taking women to this temple in the past.

Temples in Kerala 've very strict rules, ppl can not enter a temple wearing pants or shirts, they're supposed to be wearing traditional dress. And we all adhere to it because we understand that there's a scientific and logical reason behind such rules.

It makes sense to not let women in between 5 and 50? :what: I have seen mosques with cards - women and dogs not allowed. No kidding. But what is this? :azn:

Dravidian culture is also a full fledged Hindu culture. The term Dravidian is normally associated with linguistic difference in Northern and southern part of India not as a cultural or ethnic difference.

Hmm
I know you refuse to accept my words so let me show you some pics which might help you in understanding why women avoided going to Sabrimala temple...
1) The temple is located on a hill surrounded by a forest. In olden days no man in his sane mind would take a woman to a place like this. The journey to this temple was equally difficult.

2)The Sabarimala pilgrimage ritual is very stringent and difficult.
It involves 41 days of celibacy, cooking one's own food, wearing all black, not wearing footwear, not trimming or shaving body hair and nails and wearing the sacred garland (mala) to name a few.
3) The deity ostensibly took a vow of celibacy due to which women are not supposed to enter the premises.

I see reason 1 and 2 as more logical, the 3rd reason is for the religious ppl.

You do know that I'm one of those who believes in equality for men and women, had I sensed any sort of gender bias in this case then I would not be here defending the temple's rules.

Sabarimala temple has no restrictions of caste or creed. The temple is open to males of all age groups and to women who have either passed their fertility age and those before reaching the stage of puberty.

Traditions are there for some reason and need to be respected.

Ayyappan is a Bramhachari (celibate) and his devotees fast for 41 days and they are to refrain from non-vegetarian food of any kind (except dairy) alcohol, and tobacco, engaging in sex, using foul language, hair-cut, shaving and even trimming the nails.

I don't know - what if a woman is a yogi and wishes to visit the place. And she is aged ... say 40 and lives a celibate life devoid of material pleasures? Yay or Nay? :D
