Its not only about afghanistan dear. Its about using the Wakhan corridor and afghan territory to connect to the central asian region. We are the big brother in the region; educationally, industrially, agriculturally and militarily, so we should also act like one. History, culture and religion binds us all, so there is no need to be insecure. Instead we should devise a plan to create synergies combining individual strengths of the countries present in the region and the CPEC enables us to take a step in that very direction! What economic benefits with Afghanistan? The Taliban in the past refused to talk on Durand Line, and they will refuse to talk about it in the future. This issue will always be there, regardless of who's in charge in Kabul, because of our weakness. No amount of economic bribery will convince them to accept the Durand Line as a permanent border.
PS: We can examplify Europe where the border disputes exist even today, still there is no love lost. Some of the major ones are
Mont Blanc summit dispute - parties: France and Italy
Gibraltar - parties: UK and Spain
Dollart bay boundary dispute - parties: Germany and Netherlands
Olivenza and Vila Real parties: Portugal and Spain
Rockall Island parties: UK , Denmark and Iceland
