This is going around on Palestinian/Lebanese media. Supposedly US F15 flew near Iranian civilian airliner over Syria, Al-Mayadeen saying they intercepted it. It seems they flew near it but it caused the plane to drop in altitude injuring some passengers. 25 people reported lightly injured.

Al Jazeera quoting Iranian tv as saying the jets were Israeli. The worry was the Syrian AD would try shooting down the jets and accidentally hitting the Iranian airliner. Similar to incident with Russian military plane two years ago.

Edit: Does seem to be American jets according to Iranian news .

Appears to be US aircraft, unclear why they flew near them or if they intend to intercept the plane. USAF is present in eastern Syrian air space/Iraqi air space so I doubt it is related to cover from radar.

US and Israel have been more aggressive with Iran throughout the year. Raises the question of what they are planning as Trump administration reign may soon come to an end in upcoming US elections. Iran doesn't have a counter strategy at the moment and this may mean US/Israel will consider a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities.

I highly doubt it would ever come to direct confrontation. It will continue to remain as provocations like these.

And Iranian nuclear facilities cannot be targeted. Some of them are deep under the ground, under tens of meters of the world's finest reinforced cement.

Passengers must be sh!ting their pants. Either it was a ploy for Syrian AD to shoot down Iranian plane or if F-15 did indeed decided to shoot Iranian airline. It not much either Iran or Syria would be able to do.
