USAF intercepts Iranian civilian airliner over Syria?

Some evildoers p grabbers are after fireworks before election in the region due their failures in every aspect of their own policies, be it leading in death toll over Covid or everyday protests of their ppl against their own oppressive regime, thinking it'll serve their interests eventually .. beside idiots whom pushed usa to invade Iraq by saying "I guarantee you that it will have enormous positive reverberations on the region" ended preferring isis are still idiot & worried that time is running out next to some stone aged dictatorial regimes whom see their existence in giving free lap dances to master ...
probably their efforts would be augmented in coming months to bring Iran np to the UNSC back again to reimpose more sanction but they are digging their own graves ..

Ur incompetent baboons shot down own plane and then own ship. All you can do is drop barrel bombs on helpless villages.

U seriously compare firing practice round during tank exercises and shooting down own airliner or firing anti ship missile at own ship?

Lmao a practice round hitting a tank with no casualties versus launching a f*cking antiship missile that killed dozens and an anti air missile that killed hundreds

Go and learn swim, before become too late.
Yeah, we're protected at sea, you seem to miss and hit your own ships

They fly routinely over the Syrian airspace, but not Damascus in particular. The Americans are mostly active in the Eastern regions of Syria, not Damascus which is in the west and it's closer to Israel. The statement from the Syrian officials shows that they were clueless about the identity of the jet fighters. So, they could've easily mistaken them for Israeli jet fighters.

The US admitted it because they knew they had no other option. The Americans could've attempted to blame the Iranian passenger plane incident on the Iranians because it was shot down during naval skirmishes between Iranians and Americans in late 1980s during what was known as the oil tankers war but they didn't do so because they knew the truth would be revealed.
An Israeli F-15 wouldn't be inside Syria like that.
Besides, I would guess that F-15 came from a US base in Iraq. Syrians could monitor that, an Israeli F-15 wouldn't approach Syria from Iraq.

Point is America has another option, blame the Syrians. And again, they wouldn't do that, no reason to.

. . . .
You don't need to send two jet fighters to tell a civilian aircraft that it's close to one of your military bases. Radio communications have been used for scenarios like this since World War II at least. Also, the routes for civilian aircrafts are predetermined and globally known by everyone. So, that's a really lame excuse.

U.S. officials now say that a U.S. Air Force F-15 only came within 5,000 feet of an Airbus A310 airliner belonging to Iran's Air Mahan during an incident over Syria yesterday. They have also stated that Air Mahan Flight 1152 appeared to deviate from the established flight route and did not respond to radio calls to identify itself while flying over a strategic garrison near the city of At Tanf that U.S.-backed Syrian forces operate, prompting the intercept in the first place.

Details about exactly how the July 23rd incident went down remain limited. Supposedly, the F-15's intercept prompted Mahan Air Flight 1152, which was on its way from the Iranian capital Tehran to Beirut in Lebanon, to make an evasive maneuver leading to several injuries among the passengers on board. The U.S. military has established a deconfliction zone around the garrison at At Tanf that stretches 55 miles in all directions, which it says is a no-go zone for forces aligned with the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar Al Assad, including Russian and Iranian-backed groups. American aircraft, especially F-15E Strike Eagles based in neighboring Jordan, routinely patrol the area to keep foreign combat aircraft out and reportedly require all planes, even commercial airliners, to identify themselves while passing over.

That pretty much answers your question.

No, that does not answer anything. An Iranian civilian airline does not fall under the category of "forces aligned with the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad" and the US is in no position to impose a no-fly zone over a sovereign country. Not even for a radius of one mile, let alone a radius of 55 miles (which seems like a pretty random number to me) LOL

As for the rest of your post, there are videos that clearly show that the jet fighters were maneuvering at a close distance to the passenger plane. Some claim that they got closer than 100 meters (~330 ft) to the plane. And I do not believe your side of the story that Flight 1152 did not respond to your radio calls. Luckily this incident ended with minor injuries, but commercial frequencies are monitored by Syrians and other forces in Syria as well and had you been telling the truth that Mahan Air Flight 1152 did not respond to your radio calls, you would've released your radio calls to prove it. The airplane was intercepted near Damascus, which is over 100 miles away from Al-Tanf.

An Iran civilian airline does fall in even as a commercial plane. Otherwise, I don't know what else we should call it. Show me videos of the F-15 getting real close like you see in pictures of fighter jets escorting bombers. Bet you won't because its BS. 5,000 feet is nothing. Your pilot panicked. And the plane was intercepted near Al Tanf, not 100 miles away over Damascus. Stop spewing BS. You know it.

Here is a video taken from inside the plane that shows your F15 maneuvering near the plane
https://media.hamshahrionline.ir/d/2020/07/24/0/4472100.mp4

And I don't understand what the maps you copied and pasted here are supposed to prove. Show me the whole flight path and where it was intercepted exactly. Eyewitnesses and media report that the flight was intercepted near Damascus.

Nevertheless, the US is in no position to declare a no fly zone over Syria. In case you don't know, the entity that can impose such a restriction is the United Nations. You see? It's United Nations, not United States.

Americans should just stop Iranian aircraft from flying to Syria. Would put a meaningful dent on the terror sponsored by Iran and "Hezbollah".

LOL! That plane was so far away you couldn't even see the pilot. 100 meters my butt. This is what you see if it was 100 meters or less. And look at the vertical speed rate changes that you see in my previous post comparison between the two pictures within 1 minute time span.

That video does not prove that it got as close as 100 meters to the plane, and I never claimed it proved that, but it certainly proves that the US claim that you were 5,000 ft away from the airplane is bullshit. It's funny how uncoordinated the US officials are when they want to lie. First they said 1,000 ft and then 1,500 ft and now it's 5,000 ft lol

So, the point of that video was to disprove your 5000 ft claim. It is still possible that the jet fighters got closer than what was recorded on video.

And what's your point about the drop in flight altitude? The pilot has clearly said that he had to drop his altitude to get rid of your jet fighters. So, what is your point?

And the point you pinned is where the interception occurred? Based on what data? What source? And the flight path doesn't show a noticeable divergence.

By the way, the graph you uploaded actually suggests that the airplane was near Damascus when it was intercepted. If you look at the graph at 38 minutes before arrival, you will see a sudden drop in altitude which seems to be when the incident occurred. Guess how much does it take to go to Beirut from Damascus? 36 minutes. So, it seems that indeed the flight was intercepted over Damascus.
