US 'Worst Human Trafficker' - Russian Diplomat

171691507.jpg

The United States, which has accused Russia of insufficient effort in combating human trafficking, is itself the world’s biggest importer of trafficked humans, a Russian diplomat said on Monday.
Russia was marked a Tier 2 Watch List country in the Trafficking in Persons Report 2012 by the U.S. State Department.Up to 1 million people in Russia could qualify for victims of human trafficking, according to the report, which was released last week.

But the report was heavily biased for political reasons, Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said in a statement on the ministry’s website.

The report paints the United States and its allies as “straight-A students” on fighting human trafficking while criticizing their geopolitical opponents such as Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Zimbabwe and Syria, a new addition to the Tier 3 list of worst offenders, Lukashevich said.

Meanwhile, between 100,000 and 500,000 illegal migrants arriving in the United States each yearare victims of human trafficking, Lukashevich said, citing unspecified rights activists.

Up to 100,000 minors a year become involved with the illegal child sex industry in the U.S., and there are reports of sex slaves supplied to U.S. military forces outside the country, the diplomat said.
At the same time, Russia does not deny the serious situation with human trafficking within the country and is putting every effort into combating this illegal transnational business, Lukashevich said.
The State Department has not commented on Lukashevich's statement as of Monday evening.
The United States has been increasingly criticizing Russia for various human rights violations sincePresident Vladimir Putin first came to power in 2000.

The criticism has been eliciting an increasingly vehement reaction from Russian officials, culminating in the creation in 2011 of the office of a special ombudsman with the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The ombudsman’s office presented in December a global report on human rights which featured extensive criticism of the United States and other Western countries.

Like many people on this site, Mr. Lukashevich is making up convenient stats.

Yeah, like the US doesn't lie about their own stats. The US State Department probably make up most of the statistic about the countries they don't like. As far as I am concern, most of the US govenerment reports on other countries are mere political football, and doesn't mean squat. Just like the Human Right Report of every country except the US, which have been committting crimes against humanity for the last few decades.

US has independent verification of its statistics, and you could see that if you'd just take the time to look. Numerous non-gov groups exist that check and double check the govs methodology and even conduct their own studies.

If you want to wallow in ignorance and prejudice though it is your free choice.

If the guy cant give names or sources for something that is so obviously unrelated to national security, consider it bs.

UN sex-trafficking whistleblower feted in film

The true story of UN contractors' role in human trafficking and enforced prostitution is to be told in full for the first time in a new book by a former UN human rights investigator.

In The Whistleblower, published this week, Kathryn Bolkovac describes how she thought she was taking a well-paid job with DynCorp International, a private military contractor employed by the US State Department to recruit police officers to serve as UN peacekeepers in Bosnia. Instead, the former police officer from Nebraska sacrificed her career and fled from Bosnia in fear of her life.

DynCorp, based in Virginia, is one of the biggest contractors working for the US government. It has been paid billions of dollars to train police in Afghanistan and Iraq. The company vehemently denies Ms Bolkovac's allegations.

Her story has been made into a film, also called The Whistleblower and starring Rachel Weisz. The actress describes Ms Bolkovac as "a remarkable woman who has had the courage to tell the truth and stand up for the victims of sex trafficking, putting her own life on the line".

Ms Bolkovac recalls how DynCorp staff were suspected of buying weapons and trafficking girls as young as 12 from the Serbian mafia. Demoted and then fired, she was warned by a colleague that her life was in danger. In June 2001, she successfully sued DynCorp for unfair dismissal.

"It would be easy to attribute the misbehaviour to isolated incidents by a couple of bad apples," she writes. "But the disappearance of files from human trafficking cases that implicated DynCorp personnel, the abrupt and unexplained cancellation of legitimate human rights investigations, men from around the globe getting away with buying and raping teenage girls – these are not isolated incidents and cannot be dismissed as the actions of rogue individuals."

Ms Bolkovac cites allegations of sexual assault and human rights violations, many involving DynCorp staff, by UN peacekeepers in more than a dozen countries. She claims the use of private contractors has resulted in "the creation of a band of mercenaries – a secretive, unregulated, well-paid, under-the-radar force that is larger than the US army. Worse, the framework for recruiting, enticing and managing this band is severely and dangerously flawed."

Last night, a spokeswoman insisted that DynCorp "takes the issue of human trafficking extremely seriously". She added: "Authors produce the most compelling storylines possible, and that process requires a mix of fiction and fact ... Ms Bolkovac's limited first-hand knowledge of our predecessor company ended a decade ago. She has no basis for making comments about DynCorp International as it exists today; any current generalisations that are drawn from the book are unfounded."

'The Whistleblower' by Kathryn Bolkovac with Cari Lynn is published by Palgrave Macmillan

We are sorry that you are here as a sex-slave. I'm sure if you have access to this forum you can sneak an e-mail to the Dpt. of Homeland Security, and get a ticket back to where ever you're from (Thai girly boy perhaps?):what:

No one's saying that there isn't any human trafficking period in the US it is a problem for all countries, whether they are net 'exporters' or net 'importers', I'm just saying this diplomat is spewing crap.
