The United States said that it would fully help Pakistan in strengthening democratic institutions in Pakistan and the war against terror.

The US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice said this while addressing at a ceremony of receiving an honorary degree in the state of Ala Bama.

She said that the US would support the efforts of the Pakistan people for establishing independent judiciary, rule of law and free media in Pakistan.

Rice said that the US-Pakistan cooperation is very necessary for eliminating terrorism.

Rice said that both the military and the nation's foreign service has had to adapt to the changing nature of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and to changing conditions throughout Pakistan and Asia. That change has not come easily, she said.

Replying to a question, the US secretary of state said that Pakistan has to establish a solid civilian structure to control its army.

She said that the Pakistan people deserve to be congratulated as they supported democratic forces in the elections of February 18 despite difficult situation and proved by breaking the back of the extremists that they are a democracy loving people.

Hmmm......... their help always be very expensive which push us backwards and ultimately, as they have very special agenda of double crossing....... Its all now cleared that They have created and promote the extremism. US play double roll as there are clear indications that, the extrimists in NWFP & Balochistan insurgency is being supported and abetted by Britain and the US.

British intelligence is allegedly providing covert support to the extremists and separatists (which from the outset have been repressed by Pakistan's military). Also of relevance are reports of CIA and Mossad support to Baloch rebels in Iran and Southern Afghanistan.

It would appear that Britain and the US are supporting both sides. The US is providing American F-16 jets to the Pakistani military, which are being used to bomb villages in NWFP & Balochistan. Meanwhile, British alleged covert support to the extremists & separatist movement (according to the Pakistani Senate Committee) contributes to weakening the central government.

Despit being a pro West person; I am very skeptical of the US claims. US will support any government if it is in the US interest, else they will work to bring it down.

US actively subverted Chilian Allende's govt even though democratically elected. They supported military coup in Algeria when Islamists appeared to be winning in the polls and am sure that Zia ul Haq received a nod of approval when he overthrew ZAB government.
