US to exit Afghanistan ‘in 15-20 months’

15 to 20 months is too long. There are only 10,000 US troops, and there is no reason as to why they can't start to withdraw immediately. I think there is an ulterior sinister motive here. I believe US is waiting for a Pakistan - India war. A Pakistan busy with a war with india would not be in a position to help Taliban, and this is when US will make its move.

On the contrary i think 15 to 20 months is quick. 19 years of war and leaving in 19 months is quick. Sudden withdrawal will cause problems and the US also dont want to be seen as defeated, the same way USSR troops left immediately. Taliban in past few years have diversified and do not fully depend on Pakistan help to fight, they mostly rely on Pakistan help to hide and protect their families. India is desperate because once US leaves and Afghanistan is in hold on taliban, kashmir will be the target of the elements who want to continue jihad.

So I got your attention ... good. Let's see - All of a sudden you realised the "decorum of honourable man" when called a 2-year old kid cause you acted exactly like one with you "smart arse" stunt. If you were matured you would have written a matured post to respond to my post like any "decent" human. I bet you became a 'Senior' on this forum by posting one liners and posting 'Emoji' - yea great contribution! But then You just proved what the REAL problem is with Pakistan - it is being occupied by hypocrites like you! Now keep blabbering and run to mods for protection. :omghaha::omghaha:
Look at what you posted again, look at it after some years if by that time you would have learned enough, you would laugh on yourself.
Haha kiddo I don't need mods to protect myself.

India is desperate because once US leaves and Afghanistan is in hold on taliban, kashmir will be the target of the elements who want to continue jihad.
You would have noted that, they are calm from few months when it comes to that,i guess they have approached Afghan Taliban and for time being have secured their economical investment there.

It is a trap and anyone with little brains can see it. Uncle Sam does not want to go! Another false flag operation and they will be staying for another 30 years.

The longer they stay, the more it costs. The war has cost them trillions, and they are going bankrupt.

Stay there longer, for a more expensive defeat?

The War for Afganistan is now over. The War for Kashmir has begun....

The US policy makers are no fools either!!! With China being a declared enemy they’ll keep their presence in the “Heart of Asia” at any cost!!! But, they want it to be without constant security nightmare!! Hence, the deal with the Taliban, having Pak as the primary guarantor with worthwhile benefits, makes all the senses....

@ALL

from what I recall, there seems to be a division amongst Trump (the unpredictable joker) and the deepstate, which see's Afghanistan a strategic location, being adjacent to China's Xinjiang restive province, Pakistan (nukes), Iran and Russian commonwealth states.
There is definitely be a tug of war between both sides, and only time will tell what will come of it, though I do hope they withdraw, as their presence is a huge liability to Pakistan's stability on our western border. Peace in Afghanistan will ensure our military and civil leadership can focus on our eastern front, where we are facing uncivilized armed monkeys, that need a good parental spanking.

Well put, you are forgetting targeting CPEC through Pakistan. The US has good reason to stay there, this is why I am not sure they will leave, until they definitely leave.

Be careful of the US leaving a base to 'train Afghan troops' or to 'stabilize the area.'

So US spent billions maybe trillion of dollars over many years, so that in the end they will do a piece deal with their nemesis - lol, irony just died their. What have they accomplished after so many years in Afghanistan?

Also, this US will really leave Afghanistan than what will happen to India and all its investment? I cant wait to watch what Pakistan and Taliban will do with these douchebag's in Afghanistan.

On topic, I am skeptical that US will leave, because India wouldnt like this to happen. So I wouldnt buy this until I see a firm date of their exit and departure gets materialized.

15-20 months, thats like 2 years, so what will talibans do in 2 years, still sitting in caves or what ? whats formula of power sharing ? taliban should ask US to cut it troops into 2,500 numbers before signing the deal.

Ofcourse the taliban at this point would assure india of having business ties. Intra afghan talks are yet to begin and they are the real hurdle. Taliban are smart and wont make issues now, once in power, then its a total different scenario.

Key Points
  • The US military suffered its 10th fatality of the year to date in combat operations in Afghanistan on 13 July, leaving 2019 on course to eclipse the totals recorded during the preceding two years.
  • The fatality came amid a rising current of recent mass-casualty violence by the Taliban, which has resulted in a significant number of civilian casualties.
  • Such attacks have tempered any prospect of a reduction in high levels of violence as peace talks between the Taliban and the US and Afghan governments continue to progress.
A US Army soldier was killed during a combat operation in Afghanistan’s Faryab province on 13 July – the 10th US serviceman to be killed in action in the country to date in 2019, and the third to be killed in the past three weeks.

Although US losses in Afghanistan are significantly down from their peak in 2010, when 498 personnel were killed, the 10 fatalities recorded this year means 2019 is on track to be the deadliest in recent years, after 13 fatalities were recorded in 2018 and 11 in 2017. Paradoxically, this is likely attributable in part to ongoing peace talks between the US and the Taliban, with efforts by both sides to gain leverage in the negotiations resulting in an upsurge in fighting.

Very dangerous times for both, Pakistan and Afghan Mujahideen. Because finish of every affair matters, and that's true for current Afghan war.
USA wants, both Pakistan and Afghan Mujahideen to engage in war with India, while he secretly leaves from Afghanistan.
Policy makers of Pakistan, beware. Don't start war with India till USA leaves, and on the other side, start killing Indians of all type in Kashmir, so that they are not holding any ground in Jammu and Kashmir.
