US Sec Def to visit Pakistan in March

I think Pakistan's goal is to get the release of CSF/FMF so that it can clear the AH-1Z.

exactly my thoughts the release of CSF would solve lot of financial issues related to our potential purchases from USA

It is the Secretary of Defense that executes the program i.e Foreign Military Financing (FMF) according to DSCA info.

So maybe there is something there, fingers crossed.

I hope it would be a good one. The day US reinstated training program for Pak my take was next logical step would resumption of FMS to Pak. We should also request for US equipment left in Afghanistan like armoured cars Maxxpro.

.
And India is playing US; fooling them to think India will go up against China, but we need to understand one important fact: 1. India does not have the balls to go against China. Period.

However, with the newly acquired toys from US and Europe, they'll gladly attempt to take Azad Kashmir to cut off Pakistan from CPEC with the blessings of US and Europe. But to go against China? Nope. I highly doubt it and strongly believe the Indians are just buying time and chance to arm up and acquire Western tech. as much as possible by using the "I'm your ally against China" carrot approach.

I would put it this way, India has "Brains" not to go against China? Cost-benefit analysis, as they say.

India will side US for keeping China at bay, restrict China to overstretch for helping Pakistan, keep influence over middle-east through US), and off-course keep investment flowing in as well as high-end tech and weaponry.... On the other hand, from China they get huge volume of raw material for their pharma, medical and chemical industry, large volume of consumable goods which otherwise will be costly if imported from west....and most importantly, diplomatic leverage in give-and-take for things in common interest (which they will loose if they confront China)

So what your saying is that India is still non-aligned?

.
Since "the focus on US Pak security cooperation", there should be some goodies on offer. Pakistan should be able to get their F-16 and Zulus.

Not the way Pakistan's understanding of "aligning" is, at least.....they want to play it from both sides of the court...as far as possible...whereas we, take foolish emotional decisions and make it Black and White...which has gone against us in our past history.

The USA is free to do the same....hedging its bets. Looking at things rationally, involving India in Afghanistan (especially in black ops), has been more of a problem for the USA. The USA is finally acknowledging this....and modifying its stance.

You are really naive. You are not alone. May other Pakistanis are, Infact majority are. How you people suddenly starts celebrating and admiring the taliban forgetting that we have eliminated our very own version of the taliban. Anyways we need taliban in Afghanistan to stop Indian influence and yes there is nothing wrong in that. But don't admire those barbarians.
2nd now on 10th the prisnor would relase. After that a process in Norway would start where afghans would talk. The result of that would decide the future. Ashraf ghani was given blessing till that day to become pm.
America stayed quite and wished him, pm Imran wished him. That are clear signs.
Now we have persuaded America to give taliban some role and do agreement with them. Now we are in driver seat.
In other words this is what we wanted to run things in Afghanistan. And so now we do it. The transition is long and messy. Afghanistan is on a brink it civil war. Trump wanted not even to waste 1 billion dollar there. Which is not even a penut for him...
And now is the real role .
We have to gather all factions of taliban, arrange them in Norway, force them to become a little relaxed. Join others. Etc.
Ashraf ghani would create problems as long as you care for him. Ignore him.
Better work for what would be the new setup. When that is decided the talibs can go and capture kabul in a day with American support.

What is there to be naive about? You call them barbaric yet in their rule Pakistan's northwestern border was far secured than in the last decade. When i say what is the US def sec doing in Pakistan, its because Pakistan is not the spoiler in this party, US allies Ghani and India are. Just after the deal Ghani made remarks about not letting Taliban prisoners released. Hence if anybody its them the US needs to focus on. Secondly we have suffered enough because of being in the US camp since cold war days. I say enough. US is not an ally it never will be, we need to move on and stop catering US officials beyond normal diplomatic norms.
