U r right.. We are giving them nearly everything.. In future even food aid will flow !! But how will it reach the people is the question?
I have to agree with some of pakistanis here!! While people in cities like india, because they are aware of the help we have provided, plus various Indian drama shows on tv which have become very popular among afghans !!
But the real population lies in rural areas, where there is no electricity nor any news !! I doubt our assistance ever reached them, nor they even heard about it !! Plus the govt officials are corrupt !! India have to do more than pulling the socks, to make the economic prosperity reach nook and corner of afghanistan... We should build more power plants, radio stations , tv stations, transport etc

Don't be a kid like pakistanis here. Afganisthan will give us a toehold on energy supplies and its rich in minerals will also lead to flourishing of Industries in India meaning more jobs !!! The relationship is not that simple !!

India is playing its cards keeping its long term benefits from Afganistan because India knows Afganistan can offer a lot of raw materials at a pretty cheap price once its stabilized or bussiness is flourished in that country .

in future maybe a couple of Dhruv utility choppers, LCH attack helos and BrahMos Block-II cruise missiles
and Akash SAMs to defend themselves against their bad & greedy neighbours. India is doing a

We're doing as much as we can, mate. It is not possible for us to dole out more money as we need it for our own people as well.

I think more than worrying about NATO leaving Afghanistan in 2014, we must ensure that either we have enough military autonomy to conduct raids, assaults and attacks against Taliban and its supporters across borders, or make sure that another big player jumps in and considers sharing the role.

Russia has interest in Afghanistan's stability but I am wondering whether they'd be interested in deploying troops or not. China is not possible as they need their troops inside their country to avert any political dissent.

The GHQ RWP is mostly likely to recievie a call from White House than India to fix their act or face another "bombed to stone age" threat ...

We cannot go too far with the Taliban menace...Eventually India has the resources and manpower to create jobs and infrastructure - exactly what the Afghans needs desperately. The Taliban on the other hand want the opposite and do not enjoy any support among the Afghan masses particularly the educated one as of today and no chance to have any support in the future.

Pakistan putting its bets on Taliban is a recipe of total failure. It means facing a combined animosity of India, Afghans and USA - the results are already starting to appear.

It is time to abandon the Taliban and mend times with Afghanistan and India for better good of the region. Otherwise we will come embroiled in the fire of Taliban menace.

Seriously, tell me will you enjoy if someone wants to impose stone age living conditions on yourself? Dont wish onto others what you dont expect for yourself.

Supporting talibans post the Afghan-Soviet conflict was a bad idea and a failed strategy which back fired. A large population of Afghanistan has learned the hard lesson of revolting and supporting local militias. It would be hard to argue if they will be interested in any future conflict and be instrument of foreign powers. Only if they were fool enough!

I am a firm supporter of India conducting raids in afghanistan, for our own purpose !!! Any threats against us, our troops must eliminate them !! But will our GoI do it?

No raids on any foreign territory. The reason why the Afghans like Indians is becasue we don't go round conduting military operations there. The Afghans need to sort out the mess. We need to enable the Afghans to do it. Train their troops, provide them with support and enable them to take the decision. Not take the decision for them. We did it with Burma and it worked beautifully. Next you will say lets raid camps across the LoC. Its Pak territory. They have to realise the futility of enabling those camps and take out those camps using their military and its own capabilities.

Sending in Indian troops, in a non-UN mandated operation, is completely against every grain of Indian Foreign policy and I completely support the FP.

Understand a nation for what it is, you expect Afghanistan to stop the threat they pose to India?

They are not in control of their entire territory, give them time.. have patience, help them in overcoming the bigots called Taliban, help them in fighting them..

A military intervention is the last and the most extreme step a country should take, even if it takes that step it should not be taken for granted.. India is applauded the world over to constraint itself in 1971 and to stop at the most important point to let the locals decide the faith.. Afghan never had that opportunity.. first because of US(helped by Pakistan) and then the Taliban (Again supported by Pakistan)
