KABUL (TCA) — Officials from Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) said that US sanctions on Iran are one of the key challenges which threaten economic and trade activities through the Iranian port of Chabahar, Afghan broadcaster TOLOnews reported.

At least 50 containers of Afghan goods are ready to be exported through Chabahar Port to Indian and Chinese markets, but the export of the goods has been disrupted due to problems in money transactions, the ACCI deputy chief Khan Jan Alokozay told TOLOnews on May 14.

Indian and Afghan banks are not able to transfer money through the port, he said.

“The US treasury should permit the World Bank and IMF so that we can open the letter of credits,” said Alokozay.

“The Afghan and Indian governments are trying to find a solution to the issue so that we can remove the problems facing investors and the banking issue regarding Chabahar port with consideration of the fact that it is an issue between Iran, Afghanistan and India,” said Sameer Rasa, head of the Office of the Senior Advisor to the Afghan President in Banking and Finance.

Officials from the Afghan Ministry of Industry and Commerce said that the Afghan and Indian governments are trying to find a solution to the problem.

lol

@OsmanAli98 time for a Bolly number?

WOW... 50 containers ?? That means Afghan exports are slowly picking up via Chabahar, good. Hope the bottleneck of payments are resolved very soon and it will be since U.S had already exempted Chabahar from the sanctions list. It's just some temporary technical hiccup I guess.

Beautiful news...

Ah ah let sing the CHAH CHAH Bahar song explosions scantily glad Euro thots wearing sari dancing evil Porkistan rekt

Route ship to Chahbahar

Error 404

this news makes me happy.they are american procedures to stop iran but pakistan should also take chabahar seriously and do everything to disrupt trade.
The issues have already been resolved.
Till may 10 there was confusion about sanction regarding Chabahar.
That ended as US gave an all clear signal to Chabahar and also exemption to Afghanistan for Iran oil buy

Chabahar is in Iran, and US wants to screw Iran, what if Iran uses it to export oil, what then? You think it's under Indian control, India is just managing 1-2 berths.

Maybe by exemption, US meant, if the berths are used to resupply our forces in Afgan, it is okay, but if they start selling oil from there, we will bomb the crap out of it. =). Time to go ask permission again India.

Why does a sovereign nation like India need to ask US for permission? Lol
