US Proposal to transfer MRAPs to Pakistan Exposes Kabul Rift

The Current Afghan regime is only the Loud Speaker for Indian voices.

.
IMHO, Islamabad should accept the MRAPs; dismantle them, take all the metal to foundry and forge a long fence, then, Install it between Pakistan and Afghanistan. That will the best use of these vehicles as defence apparatus.

A moat would do, then a wall, and fill the moat with sharks.
Nah...... his solution is actually a bit more practical. :D

Sorry, we can spent money on dance parties, foreign trips, renovation of Iftikhar ch.'s retirement house, his son's casino trips, life time pension for all retired PPP govt. but no money for MRP?
I hope you know a mujra for PPP minister cost $1 million and in 5 year liberal rule, I believe there's no count for million$ mujra parties.
We could levy transit tax.. we could stop Indian and Iranian smuggling.
You are not in Pakistan, but every single store is full Indian stuff.... cosmetics, shampoos, even ciggerets are faked in India and later smuggled to Pakistan.
Sorry, this is not the topic but the evidence of institutional rape of economy... which went from $=40pkr to $=104pkr.
Sorry if you didn't know that PPP is the scum of this country..... but then again the people who cast their votes in the favour of the PPP..... what can one say about them?

well they still have support in sindh. so we should stop calling a poltical party a scum

.
US will make profits by selling Pakistan the spares to these MRAPs at high price.

. .

Some reasons for calling them scum....
1-On of the most corrupt governments.....
2-Their support for waderas, oh wait.... they are waderas themselves.....
3-Terrorism in their period.....
4-Their support for militants in Karachi....
5-Last but no the least 200 children dead in Thar....
there are more I can't think of em' right now.
Having support doesn't mean one is righteous.... and let me repeat again THEY ARE THE SCUM
And just to add topping on the cake i think they are even worse than the TTP.
My reasons....
TTP doesn't kill as much people as PPP does in 3 4 months period and even if they do they usually target our security apparatus which consists of adults. While our dear PPP kills 200 infants..... INFANTS and that too of hunger, can you just imagine that??? 200 children dying slowly of hunger??? dude think about it!

Actually no! If, and that is a very BIG "IF", you hold free and fair elections, in interior sindh (which has never happened in the history of Pakistan, and won't be happening in the near future) the average sindhi would vote for ,x y, or z but definitely not PPP. The recent tharparkar issue has washed away any ounce of respect for them.

There is a reason why Sindhi nationalist parties are gaining ground.

You are one sad person indeed. Most fundos are, not your mistake, as Allah makes sure that the heart of your kind is black as charcoal.

By the way, what's your infatuation with private life of others? Do you wash your *** in a special way that you'd like to educate the rest of us?

This is the best use of those MRAPs. and definitely goes against the doctrine of cutting Pakistan in two halves, which is in its final stages of execution.

Why is Afghanistan always so against us? I dont understand their hatred. Even here, we could befriend anyone, be it Indian, Turk, European, Arab but afghans dont make good friends of Pakistan. I m at a loss to understand this psyche!

.
“It costs us somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000 to actually move that MRAP," he said. "If we wanted to give it to another country that country would have to accept the MRAPs as is where is. In other words they would have to pay for anything to get that vehicle serviceable again and also to move that vehicle to their country. We are looking at alternatives to provide these vehicles to partners to include Afghanistan, Pakistan and other partners that have participated in operations with us right now.”
I don't think the PA is stupid enough to accept worn out equipment. Making all that trash serviceable would cost millions of dollars. Add to that the costs of transportation to Pakistan and later maintaining them. Who's going to provide the spares? The Yanks would have washed their hands off these vehicles even before the last of the GIs have departed.

And then there's the training and manpower needed to man these vehicles. And storage facilities. All this would cost a bomb! This is not a cost effective proposition at all.

Same goes for Bengalis, Inferiority Complex as well as Ahsan faramosh!

You must understand something, when the US gives it's surplus equipment, contrary to what officials might say, it's always brought up to a certain working condition, with spares.

NOW those spares, will obviously run out, and thats when you start to run into trouble. The way around it, is to have the capability to support those equipment in country, which is highly unlikely, but not impossible.

Another issue that usually arises is of operator training, which I'm sure will not be the case with PA.

Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero

The outrage is Indian, the voice is Afghan.

Why should India object to the transfer of equipment that only hold relevance in COIN/anti-terrorism operations? I can see how Afghanistan would have problems with the transaction but what significance does an MRAP have in the context of an India-Pakistan conflict?

And why would we voice our opposition through Afghanistan? Is our currency, both literally and metaphorically, fallen that low that we need others to make our case for us?

A very naive question indeed!

Sure. The far more rational approach would be to blame India for all the bad blood between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

And for the record, Afghanistan vigorously protested when military equipment worth millions of dollars was deliberately shredded and sold for scrap by the Americans. Their opposition isn't based on Pakistan getting to own the remaining equipment, it's just that they had their eyes on it for a long time.
