You need to look at things from PPP's perspective, Sindh will continue to be in PPP's hands whether IK wins or loses. What will PPP gain by allying with PMLN? PPP will never be able to get votes from PTI supporters but they can get votes from PMLN's supporters who are frustrated with both PMLN and PTI.

Do you really believe that there will be PTI supporters left after Imran's exit? I do not. Thus my prediction is rational from PPP perspective.

Until PTI remains a force with Imran's popularity, PPP can only hope to be part of ruling federal administration by allying with PLMN. But after Imran retires, PPP will become the de-facto opposition. It may even be possible for PPP to harvest anti incumbency against PLMN and rise to power in federal government.
