US NAVAL BASE ,On BD !! True Or Lie ??

a podcast project of leading Indian daily newspaper The Times of India on Friday, June 1, 2012 claimed that the United States' is on the process of stationing its naval base within the Bay of Bengal and US Seventh Fleet is scheduled to be moving towards Bangladesh maritime area within next couple of weeks. The Indian media claims that during the recent Bangladesh tour of the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, Washington formally placed the proposal of using Bangladesh territory for its naval base. US State Department has also confirmed the matter to Times of India. The Indian news media said, "Worried by increasing presence of Chinese naval bases in the South China Sea - America now eyes a counter strategy - as it wants an overall presence in Asia - right from Japan to its Diego Garicia base in the Indian Ocean.
"This by parking its seventh fleet in a base in Chittagong giving it both an eye on taking on China and a strategic post in Asia as it pulls out of Afghanistan. The US State Department denying on the record that Hillary Clinton's visits had anything to do with military co-operation.

"America's concerns clearly documented in the Pentagon report as they increasingly worried over the string of pearls of Chinese bases across the South China Sea and their naval might spreading all across Asia - putting the America behind. The Bangladeshi Government remaining extremely tight-lipped over the recent developments - as they have internally decided to deny it on record - fearing backlash from their own hardliners.

"This move by America could put India on the back foot if the American fleet moves to Bangladesh, all of India's security installations will come under the American scanner. Bangladesh is not willing to comment on record even offering explanation to deny the developments. This Clinton visit a more strategic one than just a friendly one- the Indian establishment caught unawares--as this base could cast a shadow on India's own strategic interests."

No plan on US base in Chittagong-refused by Mozela but on some other chanel it was showing panetta ensuring about the news ! SO now ... What is True !! It's A complex question

US already has access to Bay of Bengal through their bases in Thailand. I do not know what kind of additional value they provide other than if they are India-focused. Sri Lanka is better placed to the country where US would have wanted bases.

I think for now this is pure speculation.

@ I think there is something secrecy going on behind the screen. At present neither the Govt nor the opposition party are powerfull in the true sense. Moreso, the relation between the govt and the opposition is also very hostile. The present govt is a pro-Indian govt which has no doubt. On the otherhand the Indian Govt cannot be said as pro-American govt. Historically India was not a good American ally compared to Pakistan rather more tilted towards to Russia. At present she has a very good relation with Russia.

@ Now about giving base to American, I think our govt has given consent to America with the hope that USA might pool back the govt ?????? On the other hand India is vemently opposing it and that is why the Times of India has flashed it in the media.

Akmal bhai,without giving consent is there any choice , I dont think so.Perhaps The Whole thing is so much suspecious so I arise the question," true or lie ".
about china-america, very welknown mater to us......but I dont think like others that , only controlin chin / south asia their mission.there's definately more than tht which we dont know.

In addition to Australia and the Philippines, the US is looking at other countries, which Panetta didn't name, as possible partners for bases. But the new bases aren't designed for a permanent American presence.

I am vehemently against any type of docking or renting in bangladesh territory. Bangladesh must, I say it again, must say no to USA. If USA gets permit from Hasina, then a lot of our resources and freedom will be at stake. Many scholars and news telling of US attack on Iran, if that happens during getting naval base in bd, it will be a disaster for bangladesh. Bangladesh will lose many friends in international arena. Bangladesh public must rise against this conspiracy. When Hillary came to bd, she said she is here in bd because of the interest of USA. So what can be discussed behind the door? You guess it. Only way out is to oust from this problem is to kick the current gov out bring BNP-Jamaat into power and get close and make good relationship with China. Only Allah can save us and may Allah do so! We must, I say again, we must increase our defence budget.
