US Mily Preaches Christianity in Afghanistan

No ruler, whether democratic or dictatorial, could attain power and remain in power without popular support. Difference between democracy and dictatorship is that while democracy has support of majority, dictatorship has support of near-majority.

If Afghans were anti-Taliban, they could have supported rival group.( i remember that there were two, one supported by Tajikistan and another by Iran ).

Some girls getting education does not prove anything. If Taliban does not have significant support amongst native population, it would have died long ago.
I do not dispute some support to taliban among pashtuns.. but when somebody supports taliban it could be completely different from the reason you imply (ideological).. more often than not its tribal affiliation driven by fear.
Its difficult to extrapolate that to say most pashtuns support blowing up girls schools or stoning women for sports.

Even when the support is through ballot (which was not the case in afganistan), you will see its difficult to support everything that a group promotes.
Its not about some girls, afgans braving taliban threat to send their daughter to school, voting in an election (and then taliban chops off their fingers).. how many of us will not be silent spectators and say.. lets not take risks.. let my daughter stay home and I got nothing to do with democracy..

Is there any hope of Afghans becoming even remotely civilized, if they stone women to death for sport just because hadith says so, or if they bomb girl's school because education is haram?

Any ideology except Islam, whether socialism ( which is practically a religion ), Buddhism ( Ancestral religion of Afghans ), or Christianity ( having propaganda strength comparable to Islam ) would be an improvement for Afghanistan.

You see my dear confused and misunderstood poster. To understand what the solution to Afghanistan's problems is, you have to understand what caused this mess in the first place. And if you think it's Islam, then it shows you know nothing.

Islam and Afghanistan and the Afghan culture were a medium for the Taliban/Al Qaeda trouble, not the cause itself.

The cause, is 30 years of non-stop war. Soviet invasion 1978-1989, 1989-1992 war against Najibullah government, 1992-1996 Civil war round one, rise of the taliban, 1996-2001 Second civil war, 2001-ongoing US/NATO invasion, and now we're gearing up for 2014-???? where the new government is left to deal with the taliban.

30+ years of nonstop war made Afghanistan in to a dysfunctional state, a non-existent state at times. You know what happened during the very first conflict, in 1979, Soviets invaded, with that all the Afghan elite, the intellectuals, the teachers, the professors, the professionals, anyone and everyone with a degree and/or enough money fled. So the first event was brain drain. The occupation was brutal and illegal the resistance was given a cause by way of Islam, then came the sad state of the Afghan economy, non-existent economy. Restricted to dealings on medieval scales. as a result of that and war and brain drain, education suffered. An entire generation of Afghans grew up uneducated and illiterate. Ethnic tensions were always there, even before the Soviet invasion, but they were forgotten for quite some time, before focus shifted back.

I bet, that had Christianity, or Judaism etc etc been in the place of Islam in Afghanistan from 1979 onwards. We would see the Christian, Jewish etc version of the taliban and Al Qaeda.

I'm sure of it.

Pre-Islamic Afghanistan was any better? Rivers of civilizations used to flow in that Afghanistan? Women were appointed as ruling Queens and Universities were established to produce Nobel laureates?

You see my dear confused and misunderstood poster.
No, he is neither confused nor misunderstanding anything. He is a Muslim/Islam hater of worst kind who will continue to spew hatred against Muslims/Islam.

So?

Afghans are in desperate need for civilization. Christianity or Buddhism would be most appropriate civilizing force for that hellhole.

Do you remember the Anglo-Afghan Wars? Or the more recent Afghan Jihad against the Soviets? You just do not have the faintest notion about Afghan culture, its rich history,it's contribution to civilization, its music and literature. It is not valor alone that many an empire crumbled before the Afghans. By comparison the occupation forces are pagan, uncouth barbarians.

Wow, talk about the parallel between the US military and the Crusaders from a thousand years back

Regardless, evangelical Christianity has failed terribly to revive Christanity in North America. If they think spreading it in Afghanistan will help they will be disappointed

Really are u serious....there is no difference between Radical Islam or the western Govn. One kill in the name of God and the other in the name of democracy. Both of them are uncivilized.
