We (Muslims) are playing into their hands because we a bunch of emotional fools with no vision and strategy for addressing our disputes and steering the Islamic bloc into a coherent whole. How would we? We have disagreements even in the matters of Islam, let alone in worldly affairs. Faith of the masses have declined to such an extent that they have pinned their hopes in Imam Mahdi instead of Allah Almighty to rescue them from worldly tribulations.

Muslims have truly lost their way (and minds) over the course of years in general. We have [well-preserved] Holy Quran to draw guidance from but we rely upon centuries old narratives for this end, narratives that became popular decades after the death of beloved Holy Prophet (PBUH) and eventually led to the fitna of "sectarianism."

Allah Almighty have warned in Surah al-Isra that should 'the believers' abandon his teachings and partake in corruption (religion-related and otherwise), then they would be subjected to great tribulations in this world including destructive wars, and these people are also destined for hell in the afterlife. Allah Almighty gave the example of fate of Jews in this regard.

And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach [a degree of] great haughtiness (17:4).

So when the [time of] promise came for the first of them, We sent against you servants of Ours - those of great military might, and they probed [even] into the homes, and it was a promise fulfilled (17:5).

[And said], "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to yourselves." Then when the final promise came, [We sent your enemies] to sadden your faces and to enter the temple in Jerusalem, as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction (17:7).

[Then Allah said], "It is expected, [if you repent], that your Lord will have mercy upon you. But if you return [to sin], We will return [to punishment]. And We have made Hell, for the disbelievers, a prison-bed (17:8).

Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward (17:9).

And man supplicates for evil as he supplicates for good, and man is ever hasty (17:11)."

This Surah provides a complete reflection of everything that is wrong with Muslims today.

Do Muslims lack in numbers and talent? No.

- Siege of Holy Kaaba in 1979 occurred under the slogans of arrival of Imam Mahdi and subsequent demands for allegiance to him.

- ISIS drew inspiration from Islamic eschatology to establish its caliphate, lure thousands to its cause [from all over the world] and justify its murders since 2013.

Tell me about it. Narrative of Imam Mahdi being exploited for religio-political ends.

Let us wait for a righteous Imam Mahdi to fix our problems with a magic wand. Never-mind our embrace of secthood over brotherhood, corruption, territorial mentality and disagreements over virtually every matter - fissures that foreign entities are exploiting to their advantage for their political ends.

They are well-acquainted with Islamic eschatology and history by the way. Not surprised that they are preparing for any eventuality.
