The United States, through USAID, has funded the construction of 111 km needed to complete the 247 kilometer-long Kalat-#Quetta-Chaman highway. The funding of the highway is one element of a comprehensive U.S. program in #Pakistan to help restore essential public infrastructure in remote communities. This highway is a major trade route between Afghanistan and the Central Asian states. The highway also establishes a vital link between #Balochistan and the rest of Pakistan, reaching all the way to #Karachi. It is revitalizing cities and communities along the highway, expanding communication and transportation services, and improving access to basic health, education, and other social services.

. . .
Need to be very cautious with American aid programs. Not much good has come out of US aid projects in Pakistan. A lot of US aid money is wasted or used to bribe officials for certain favors. This has been going on since the days of Musharraf. I don't expect much favorable change in US aid policy towards Pakistan.

. .
Keep US the **** out of Balochistan. I mean our we that naive that we are actually encouraging US to invest in Balochistan? Havent we got enough mess to deal with as it is, US is nothing but trouble. Their growing alliance with India should even be more worrisome. Pakistan and Pakistanis need to stay clear of US and so called US aid.

.
They should stop the Military aid and fund projects like these , India bhe khush hum bhe khush . Military aid ayege tu India will cry kae it will be used against them .

.
From what i always see in their ads and pages Balochistan and FATA are their target regions they want those regions to stabilize

USAID is notorious for their meddling and interference in the internal politics of other countries. This doesn't only apply to Pakistan. Although, Pakistan has figured very highly on their list in the past few years. USAID's programs in a given country pursues a mix of political and economic goals. USAID is also criticized for the extravagant cost of delivering assistance to countries. Before the aid reaches the intended recipients much of it is lost in administrative and technical procedures. Top USAID officials are renowned for their corruption and also siphon off much of the aid monies.

USAID states that "U.S. foreign assistance has always had the twofold purpose of furthering America's foreign policy interests in expanding democracy and free markets while improving the lives of the citizens of the developing world." Believe it or not, this is their official stance for delivering aid to certain countries. In other words, the aid is politically motivated and has strings attached to it.

Even worse, USAID has maintained a close working relationship with the CIA and Agency officers who often operated abroad under USAID cover. This is an open secret.

The smart way is to accept the aid but never let it to be used against you...The roads themselves are good and they don't harm but it depends on what moves on the road. The aid is not an instrument of slavery and if there is any such clause...just get rid of it or simply decline it graciously.

Now that is constructive.

Sorry, contrary to the popular belief, disbursement of US aid is closely monitored by American authorities and cannot be easily misused. You can even report fraudulent activities to them, should they occur.

There is a reason why Pakistani politicians are not keen to consider USAID for funding various projects in Pakistan; they cannot make much profits from them. I know this from professional exposure and relevant contacts.

I agree with you...They give AID suppose 100 usd and out of which consultation and other misc fees will be 30-40% of total cost that will be used by their own citizen who gets employed in these projects...That is why even Indian Gov is curtatiling and monitoring USAID programs more closely than before.

You are wrong. There have been many non-partisan studies on the way USAID spends its financial aid in various countries. I can assure you, the findings are highly critical. The aid and associated projects are highly politically motivated. Anyone can figure out why the Americans are keen to fund this particular project in Balochistan.

Exactly. India is doing smartly in this regard. USAID isn't free lunch. It is much worse because it is poisonous.

Sorry, you cannot fool me in this area with your propaganda. I know a professional who has worked with USAID and how it operates. I worked on a project in which USAID was considered as an option for funding.

I am also aware of how firms are selected for funding various projects in Pakistan. Our politicians normally prefer those firms that are lenient in their dealings with them (hint: commissions). Problem is that many American firms are not comfortable with such mindset.
