What's the big deal. Racism is institutionalized in India and no one complains about fair and lovey ads. Indians all over the world look down upon "black" people and suck up anything/everything that has white attached to it. Get over it.

You are right. I still wonder why not one of the women's organizations who are quick to denounce beauty pageants, as they believe it to be degrading women, are absolutely silent when it comes to fairness products, which adds to the physical insecurity of women. Now the companies are even targeting males also through male fairness creams.

What is the deal? tamils,south indians are darker(again this generalization fails in some southern parts).
India is generally a place of brown race. except for some north western areas where they are comparatively more pale/less brown.
as if north Indians are all fair!

The US diplomat made a mistake. That's understandable given the cultural differences.



But what is the excuse for all these students who were clapping and cheering?

I am pretty sure it was a slip and the students took it in the right spirit.

I myself studied at SRM and most of the students there are Tamils and Telugus (South Indians)
