What's new

US defence secretary Hagel arrives in India, Javelin Missile Deal on Cards.

Maybe you use a different language to describe it in India , but by the" rights part" I meant the legalese part of the deal that would guarantee that you would also get a part of the profits of selling co developed products to an approved list of nations.

If co developed then you get it. BTW the Russians are not giving you full TOT on your PAKFA project.

It's about time I start seeing some Americans on this site. You guys got to step up and defend your name when the Chinese, Pakistani's and even Indian's with die hard old views are quick to put down America any chance they get. START DEFENDING YOU NAME!

Yeh bhi sahi baat hai,but now American power is a lot lesser & they need partners we should take advantage of this & go for more TOT

Push too much at once, and India looses out. Never underestimate the US, that will be your first and last mistake.

I dont know about this 100% stuff.
But now India dont need Russian help for developing ,or maintaining that engine.
Avionics in MKI have a nice % of Indian origin

Avionic in MKI was and is heavily assisted by French and Israel. We need spares from Russia to maintain all engines, it took foever to work an arrangment. Let's wait and see what happens. LCA engine was having thrust problems.

We are not interested in copying others tech.Kaveri is our own design and so it is difficult for us since we dont have necessary facilities.
If we want to copy we can do it.But we dont do that.

If you not interested in copying it then why ask for TOT? the whole purpose is that you can advance your knowledge in the that field

Some people don't understand in Copying legally(TOT) and copying illegally (Reverse Engineering).

I am with Us-India co-development of those missiles.:usflag:

Without the transfer of seeker technology..........what are we going to do with those launchers?

Use them as drain pipes?

A lot of ToT what we brought is nothing but a sham.

.
isnt drdo developing shoulder fire smokeless NAGA missile...i saw a report regarding it few months ago

Problem is, they're forever developing, and seldom delivering. Our Armed Forces, on the other hand, have to be ready to meet any eventuality, and in the present tense at that.

if deal goes through need to work together to make a lighter second gen version, get it down to 35lbs from nearly 50lbs.

To be honest it is still quite remarkable to me that India managed to squeeze any ToT for the Javelin out of the US, I seriously did not think the US would EVER accept India's demand for this.

If pushed through the Javelin would see widespread usage in Indian service and the spin offs are almost endless, likely would kill off the Nag though.

It's not that India squeezed this out of the US, but the US sincerely wants their relationship to move forwa

At this point, the JAvalin isn't some crazy weapon anymore. It's wide spread. Many nations have it, if not the US India would still get it somewhere, so why not make this money while you can.

Same reason sports clubs trade or sell players that have expiring contracts.

You guys are very hard on DRDO, but I think it's quite amazing what the organization has been able to accomplish. Look at the US, where defense research involves thousands of public-private partnerships, all competing with each other. All the top defense companies in the US each have several times more employees, more capital, and more resources than DRDO; so just the fact that we expect DRDO to keep up with them says a lot about its ability.

Its the next gen Javelin, not the current one.

So its more akin to getting the next superstar like Neymar rather than an aging one like Ibra.
