Yaar we Have HIT which can easily maintain it and upgrade it for Pakistan Conditions .

.
Yes, HIT can play its role regarding maintenance and up gradation.

not a really good idea, for me

the ones they want to retired is the old un-armored model. In which fared no better in terms of protection and mobility compared with some trucks like Ford Ranger or Toyota Hillux.

Pakistan should go for other alternative in which much friendly in fuel consumption, much better mobility, have a longer range operation area, offer better protection, and have a reasonable prices and yet the new ones as you need them in longer terms. Much better you get the license production of it's. Chinese or Turkish Light Mobility vehicles is a more reasonable choice

Lol you are probably right you forgot to mention the dozen or so people hanging from the exterior :-)

Such vehicles can be jury rigged into useful service for a long period of time with local talent and expertise, I am quite sure. If Cuba can do it, surely Pakistan can too.

Pak already produces, uses and exports locally produced LAVs (light armoured vehicles of B6 protection level).

Pakistan even may get them for free, will just have to pay for shipping and upgrades, still cheaper than buying brand new vehicles.

Where is this money going to come from? It seems Pakistan has a long shopping list -- SU-35s, submarines, surface ships, attack helicopters, etc.

Hey, India is paying or will be forced to pay for it. :pakistan:

complete rubbish vehicle. no wonder why marines and others came to us for all the marp vehicles including casspir's next gen which you see running around as Maxpro. If you want casualties, then humvee is the way to go. If you want reliable hard core hardiness then visit us. Just ask the srilankans who are using old retired buffels, moroccans, US marines, Canadians, UN etc who use our vehicles.

Humvees are giant fuel eating machines and we should stop acting like third world country please give us your used ones stop this nonsense forever we have the capabilities to build such vehicles in HIT with less fuel consumption.
What kind of fuel consumption you are talking about?? How do they compare to armoured trucks??

It became the symbol of half a dozen US military interventions – a vehicle instantly recognizable across the globe, and as popular with the US military (if not with the actual soldiers) as with Islamic State, who stole 2,300 of them in Iraq during the fall of Mosul in 2014.

Now the US Department of Defense has announced the beginning of the end for the ubiquitous Humvee, awarding a $6.7bn contract to replace it to the Wisconsin firm Oshkosh.

As the Sherman tank was indelibly associated with the second world war, the Humvee bracketed a period of US interventionism that began with the invasion to topple Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega in 1989 and will end in the chaos of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Oshkosh beat a team made up of Lockheed Martin Corp and Britain’s BAE Systems, as well as AM General, the privately owned company that built the original Humvees, for a deal that could be worth $30bn over time.

The US plans to buy a total of 55,000 of the Oshkosh’s Joint Light Tactical Vehicles, or JLTVs, to start replacing the current combined fleet of about 140,000 Humvees. The makers claim the new vehicles will be more nimble and better protected than their 30-year-old predecessors.

Pakistan Army has open Jeeps and trucks for their army , which has resulted in very high casualties ,IED blasts , Ambushes , Rocket attacks etc . Pakistan army needs new Jeeps which are bullet proof and could take care of an IED or attack . This is the best chance for the Pakistan army to get hands on the Humvee's ,They could be really useful in the operations in the northern areas ..
