US announces $326,000 assistance for Chitral flood-affected areas

Be it the devastating earthquakes of 2005 or recent floods, the people of the United States, along with its government, stand with the people of Pakistan and help in whatever capacity they can. In the same spirit of giving, the United Sates has announced assistance for the Chitral flood-affected areas. In response to the July 2015 flash floods in the Chitral district, the United States government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is providing $326,000 this year to help repair the area's drinking water infrastructure and agricultural economy.

"We are working to restore the provision of food and drinking water, and put people's lives back on track as soon as possible," said USAID Mission Director John Groarke. "I want the distressed families to know that the American people stand with them during these trying times."

very well.... money would be better spent, if used in thar desert to save people dying from thirst and hunger!

And USA is punished and hated for the good that it does in certain countries and areas of the world. Doing good but being seen as the bad guy is not a winning combination for hearts and minds.

May be because US aid in NWFP is often of strategic nature not for service of humanity.

Regarding the balance of aid, I believe its in favor of US in terms of 15 year long transit through Pakistan.. with or without agreement.

Only states which reap benefits of US war on Afghanistan and Iraq are Indians and Iranians. They developed sharply, while Pakistan being sent back to stone age.
