Well the German ambassador Alfred Grannas visited Gwadar recently and no one cared.

Chinese ports are open to American shipments. American companies are developing Chinese infrastructure. American companies can open manufacturing plants in economic hubs of China. But rules are different for Pakistani slaves.

Pakistan has been a sincere friend to China and welcomed CPEC with open arms. But CPEC has not produced much economic impact and shifted fortunes of numerous households in the country. If Chinese are imposing unreasonable terms and restricting economic potential of CPEC, how is this helpful?

WE need to question our leaders and make them accountable. Good practices such as transparency and citizen engagement are alien concepts to state on the whole, not just a particular institute.

Locals were protesting in Gwadar for not accommodating them and the state's response was to ban protests in the city. Optics, right?

WE are exploited because WE show weakness and internal disconnect.

You don't to see this from emotional perspective but a rational one. First of all US is not a friend, it clearly has other priorities including poping India up against china. Pakistan only matters when someone tries to diversify our foreign policy, regime change happens.
Yes Chinese and americans were doing businesses in the past but alot has changed after that. Recently China banned the use of Iphone while the Americans have already banned Huawei. So my point is we should stop trying to please everyone the least of USA if we are to work with China. However knowing our political elites and their failed policy of looking towards the west, we are going to screw this up as well.

I'm British Pakistani but the benefits of what China has to offer is much better than what the USA brings to the table in this scenario. We also have to consider that the USA is close allies with India which isn't in the best interest of Pakistan. This seems to be a clear future win for china...and Pakistan

Countries do not behave like individual friends but have "interests." China benefits from having access to Gwadar and other projects. China is allowed to extract natural resources in Balochistan. Chinese companies are interested in making profits.

So what is the output of CPEC? Has it addressed Pakistani economic woes? Pakistan has a significant trade deficit with China. Any thought given to this problem?

US is important for Pakistan in economic terms. 80+ American companies provide job opportunities to locals in Pakistan. Pakistani goods and services have demand in American markets and have created a trade surplus. Pakistani entrepreneurs can use American platforms to do business or freelancing. When Pakistan's economy is on the brink, IMF provides relief. Pakistan's economy would have collapsed otherwise.

No country will bankroll Pakistan for indefinite period. Pakistan must learn to stand on its own feet.

There is a significant room for American investments in Pakistan but situation on the ground is not conducive. Anti-American sentiments cultivated by politicians are not helpful. Corruption is not helpful. IPPs are not helpful.

Foreign delegations should be allowed to visit Gwadar because it is not a military installation but a city that is supposed to be an economic hub of the country. Pakistan should open Gwadar to locals and global trade. Allow other countries to invest in Gwadar as well. This is how you create an economic hub. But if Gwadar is sold to China then this is another story.

Why WE care about US dealings with India? This is something that WE do not get to decide. India is a big market that US wants to tap for its benefit. India also has border dispute with China so US would want to sell its arms to India. This is all about finding and creating business opportunities. Not just the US but other countries want to tap Indian markets as well.

Mostly Pakistani think on the lines of bloc politics. Create this bloc or that bloc. Pakistani are very eager to transform the country into North Korea 2.0 for China.
