you miss the forest for the trees yet again. I am not saying the 1619 Project is an accurate representation of US history. I am highlighting the fact that people care enough to debate the subject at a national level. While other nations brush such concerns under the carpet and pretend it never happened.
Slavery was long practised and thrived in Europe, Asia and the middle east, especially prevalent in the islamic world including the Ottoman empire that abolished slavery in 1924. It isn't an American phenomenon, slaves have suffered far worse and for much longer in Europe, middle east and Asia. Do you see a similar debates in these societies? Modern day slavery thrives in the muslim world, UAE, Kuwait and Saudi and yet no one is discussing it.
