Technology is advancing and the work that could be done previously by anyone, now requires advance knowledge.
On the other hands, universities are only teaching their students, and very few universities are actually preparing students as skilled person. I have seen graduates of big universities getting fired within 6 months due to lack of skills( I focused on skills during my studies, and it is paying off now).
So it's kind of mix now.
