United States Navy guided missile frigate arrives in SL
United States Naval Ship USS Ford (FFG-54) arrived at the port of Galle on 11th October 2011 on a goodwill visit.
USS Ford is a guided-missile frigate with a length of 136m. The ship’s crew comprises of 23 officers and 175 enlisted men. It is commanded by Commander D. Foss.
The ship’s crew is scheduled to engage in a variety of naval and recreational activities jointly with the Sri Lanka Navy. Among the programmes are Visit Board Search Seize (VBSS) and counter piracy exercises. The ship is expected to remain in Galle till 14th October 2011.
