Travel Agents Association of Pakistan (TAAP) Chairman Naeem Sharif has said that in order to celebrate the beginning of the New Year and Christmas, as many as 300,000 Pakistanis have reached Dubai; however, the rest of them are in for a disappointment as new applications for visit visa are being denied by the UAE embassy.

He said that the applications sent for UAE visit visa on Monday were rejected without any particular reason.

“The applications were rejected and directions have been given to travel agents not to apply until further notice,” the association chairman added.

Association’s vice chairman said that the restriction is temporary and likely to be lifted from the New Year.

The restriction has been placed specifically on Pakistani nationals as 300,000 Pakistanis are already in Dubai and the real reason is yet to be confirmed by UAE’s embassy, he said.

Wow !

So, if each person spends 1000 dollars, then 300K visitors are gonna spend/waste 300 million dollars.

Forget poverty in Pakistan and enjoy New Year's Eve in some foriegn country.
We Pakistanis deserve to be in place where we are right now :(

This is just the people traveling to UAE you don't have the figures for other destinations. But these are the people who are usually based in foreign countries.

Btw do tourists come to Pakistan to celebrate New Year and Christmas ? Or is it only a one way traffic ?

London and Dubai seem to be the second home for affulent Pakistanis :enjoy:

Pakistan is not a poor country. We have disproportionate wealth distribution. But most of the wealth is gained by illicit means

Good. Stay home and celebrate new year in your own damn country.

dont know what so special about Dubai to celebrate new year there except fire workso_O

All hotels are full... there is no place to stay

Its the time for Bahria Town to introduce something in order to attract the rest in Bahria Town.
A gap to fill is an opportunity to exploit :).
We can also go to Qatar because of arrival visas another perfect destination :)

Pretty sure 300000 Pakistanis didn't get there to celebrate New Year.
Just illegally looking for jobs on visit visa like most south asians do.

Of course many of them are just visiting for fun.

There won't be any fire work at Burj Khalifa this year. It'll be a light show. Something new and expecting it to be amazing. :)

Here is the news from Dubai authorities

Pakistani media reported that this is a temporary arrangement.
The New Year is just round the corner, and people from all across the world will be flying in to Dubai to witness the magnificent celebrations.

Sadly, in what seems like an attempt to dampen the festive spirits, a rumour has gone viral in Pakistan, home of close to a million expats in the UAE.

According to a fake notice going viral across the country, the UAE General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs has issued a notification suspending issuance of UAE visas for Pakistanis.

"The ministry and immigration of UAE has temporarily suspended issuance of UAE visa for Pakistanis. Those who have visa already can travel," the fake notice said.

The rumour was also picked up by mainstream Pakistani media.

GEO TV quoted officials of the Travel Agents Association of Pakistan, who said the visa service has been suspended until further notice.

No particular detail has been provided for the visa rejection, the report said, quoting the chairman of the association, Naeem Sharif.

Vice chairman of the association, Nadeem Sharif, said that this was a temporary arrangement, adding that he believes the service would resume from the start of the New Year, the report added.

He said that the visa restrictions had been imposed for Pakistanis only, as around 300,000 Pakistanis are already in Dubai on visit visas.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs of Dubai has denied these rumours.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, the GDRFA said "visitors from Pakistan are welcome to enter Dubai after obtaining a visa".

"The situation is normal," the official said.

Visitors have been advised not to fall for rumours and always verify news with official UAE/Dubai government agencies.
