Inaugurating the Jubilee Celebrations of Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT).

The Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) was Established in November 1993 as An Autonomous Society under the Union of India's Establishment, Ministry of Earth Sciences by the then Union of India's Establishment, Department of Ocean Development.

Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) has Established as One of the Premier Institutes in the World, working on Various Ocean Technologies. During this period, Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) has Demonstrated Several Technologies for Societal Applications such as Desalination Plants, Data and Tsunami Buoy Network in Indian Ocean Waters for Collecting Real Time Oceanic Data, Sea Cage Traditional Method in Open Sea, Shore Protection. Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) is also Working on Continuous Expansion to take Benefits of these Technologies to the Doorsteps of Common Citizens of Union of India.

Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) has Developed Niche Technologies to Mine Manganese Nodules from Deep Sea has Developed Several Deep Sea Systems like Remotely Operable Vehicles, etc. and is striving hard to bring Union of India on par with Developed Nations in the Area of Ocean Technology. Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) has to the Credit Many Technologies which have been Transferred to Indian Defense Industry as part of “Make in India” Programme of Union of India's Establishment like the Floating Drifter, Robo Coastal Observer, Remotely Operable Vehicle etc. The Infrastructure at Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) includes Hyperbaric Chamber for Testing of Underwater Systems and State-of-the-Art Research Ships.

Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) will be the Nodal Institution for Implementing the Proposed Deep Ocean Mission, which Encompasses all the Areas of Ocean Technology like Development of Manned Submersible, Offshore Large Scale Desalination, Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC), Extensive Survey of the Oceans, Acquisition of New Ships etc.

Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Director Shri Dr. M.A. Atmanand presented the Vote-of-Thanks.

Union of India's Establishment, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Secretary Dr. Shri Rajeevan welcomed the Distinguished Invitees and Enumerated the Achievements of Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) during the Last 25 years.

Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu said Technology was Needed for Protection of Coastal Areas from Negative Impacts of Situational changes and for Development of Blue Coastal Infrastructure for the Benefit of Society.

While Lauding Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) for Developing Technologies like Desalination Plant to Convert Sea Water into Portable Water, Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu said there was a Need to Ensure that Such Technologies were Cost Effective.

Talking about the Importance of Blue Economy in the Overall Progress of the Nation, the Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu Expressed Happiness that Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) was Working on Six priority Pillars of Blue Economy, including Fisheries and Aquaculture, Renewable Ocean Energy, Seaports and Shipping; Offshore Hydrocarbons, Seabed Minerals, and Marine Biotechnology.

The Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu pointed out that Blue Economy includes Intangible Economic Benefits such as Carbon Sequestration, Coastal Protection, Religious Traditional Values and Biodiversity.

The Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu conveyed his Best Wshes to the Union of India's Establishment, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) for the Success of their Upcoming Project--Samudrayaan, which Envisages Sending Aquanauts to Ocean Depths with their Manned Submersible.

Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu Declared that after Assuming the Office of Union of India, Vice President, Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has Made this as a Mission to Visit Various Scientific Institutions Across the Union of India to Understand First-Hand the Research being Conducted by them.

In this Context, Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu recalled His Visit to Union of India's Establishment, Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) and the Union of India's Establishment, National Tsunami Warning Centre in Hyderabad, Union of India.

The Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu said that Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu is Extremely Impressed with the Work being Carried out by Scientists in Areas of Ocean Observation and Information and Advisory Services and making the Coastal States Tsunami-Ready.

On the Occasion, the Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu also Launched the Indian Armed Forces, Coastal Flood Warning System App for Tamil Nadu (CFLOWS- Tamil Nadu) Developed by the Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT).

Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu also Released a Commemorative Postal Stamp brought out on the Occasion.

The Union Government of India, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu later went Around An Exhibition which Displayed Cutting Edge and Socially-Relevant Technologies Developed by Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT).

Union Government of India, Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Shri Harsh Vardhan said Union Government of India, Department for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences is in Consultation with the Union of India's Establishment, National Institution for Transforming India's Policy Commission (NITI Aayog) to launch the Union of India's Establishment, National Mission on Desalination which can Help us solve the Growing Problem of Water that the World is facing today. “I have Witnessed Several Key Projects of Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) especially the Desalination Project for Providing Water to the Union Territory, Lakshadweep Island Community and the Union of India's Establishment, Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion Project in Kavaratti for Power Generation for Desalination,” Union Government of India, Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Shri Harsh Vardhan said.

Union Government of India, Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Shri Harsh Vardhan said he also Dedicated to the Indian Nation the Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) Polar Remotely Operable Vehicle (ROV), which was used in the Search Operations of the Sunken Indian Air Force AN-32 aircraft. “The Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) Polar Remotely Operable Vehicle (ROV) Catapulted Union of India's Establishment to the Elite Club of Nations like the United States of America, Kingdom of Japan, France, Germany & People's Republic of China with Successful Development & Usage of 6,000 m Deep Remotely Operated Vehicle,” said Union Government of India, Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Shri Harsh Vardhan. The Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) Polar Remotely Operable Vehicle (ROV) has Been Transferred to the Indian Defense industry such as L&T Heavy Industries, Mumbai & BEL, Bangalore, Union Government of India, Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Shri Harsh Vardhan added.

Union Government of India, Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Shri Harsh Vardhan Congratulated the Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) for Transferring some of their Technologies like Robo-Coastal Observer, Ocean Drifter and Expandable CTD (is an oceanography instrument used to measure the conductivity, temperature, and pressure of seawater (the D stands for "depth," which is closely related to pressure)) to Industries indicating the Commercial Relevance and Industrial Utility of their Research. “The Union of India's Establishment, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) has already Initiated Working towards Several Long Term objectives like Creating the Offshore Infrastructure to make Offshore Wind Energy more Viable & Effective, Indigenization of Marine Sensors,” Union Government of India, Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Shri Harsh Vardhan said.

Union Government of India, Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Shri Harsh Vardhan said the Union of India's Establishment, Ministry of Earth Sciences, India Meteorological Department (IMD) is Providing Precise Weather Forecast with the Result that While in 2015 about one Crore Farmers were being provided with Weather Alerts and Now more than Four Crore Farmers are Benefitted by this. “In 2004 the Indian Ocean Tsunami caused Widespread Loss of Life and Damage, but now We have Among the World's Best Tsunami Warning Systems,” Union Government of India, Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Shri Harsh Vardhan added.
