What's new

Unidentified assailants kill a Japanese national in Rangpur

Mr. Hoshi was actually a convert.

The tactic of guns on wheels are very identical to previous killings and attempts. This had been going on for quite some time in Bangladesh. It is nothing new. But now, foreigners? That is new.

It appears they are guns for hire. You can actually hire hitmen through the deep web.

Question is, who hired them, and why? Did Mr. Hoshi have any enemies? He was a grain scientist, and not a military man, politician or an archaeologist. Does ISIS have something against rice and wheat?

I do not have much confidence in our police force, nor our intelligence and investigation agencies. Though, the one notable error that our honorable Prime Minister has made was to swiftly put the finger on the opposition. There had been no conclusive investigation, or even close. This made the country and its image more volatile. And it may make investigations by intelligence agencies (both foreign and domestic) misleading and waste time, and resources. The foreigners will assume it as true initially.

But then, foreigners do get killed in other countries everyday don't they? Perhaps they are overreacting in case of Bangladesh?

No matter if Bangladesh is secular or not, or how unique its culture may be; the fact that it is a Muslim-majority nation will always hinder every aspect of its security and image.

I hope our Honorable Prime Minister understands that Bangladesh is surrounded by pagan-majority nations that are just as filled with militancy and terrorism than Bangladesh has been and will ever be.

Before making tall speeches, better think long and hard about your future and the future of your daddy's country.

One thing no one has thought of and is abundantly clear to me at least - is that Japan and Italy are both important development partners in garments and shipbuilding in Bangladesh.

The intent is to create a situation where FDI is stopped or reduced in Bangladesh from at least these two countries. Now you figure out who gains from this.

In my opinion - we should return the favor to whoever did this.....

Yep, that would be in keeping with India's economic aggression against BD. When being wined and dined by SHW in Dhaka, Butcher Modi had mentioned that he was chided by the Chinese President regarding little BD leaving giant India far behind in RMG.
