Hi Guys
There are certain myths about Islam and how the things have been manipulated by certain people. I think this thread can serve as venue to remove the misconceptions. If I search on internet I can find many things such as killing innocents is justified with phrases from holy books. May be this can be the platform where the misconceptions about Islam can be solved.
Here are some of the verses which I found over internet. It would be nice if someone can guide me on these. What these actually are and how they have been interpreted. Are they correct or wrong....
(Koran 8:12) "Remember Thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the believers, I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, Smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger tips of them."
(Koran 69:30-37) "It is not for any Prophet to have captives until he hath made slaughter in the land. You desire the lure of this world and Allah desires for you the hereafter and Allah is Mighty, Wise.. Now enjoy what you have won as lawful and good and keep your duty to Allah. Allah is forgiving, merciful."
This verse is in reference to the prisoners that Mohammed held for ransom after the battle of Badr. This battle occurred on March 17, 623 AD. This is the month of Ramadananother sacred month for the Muslims! In this battle, Mohammed and his followers killed at least 70 innocent merchants from the Quraysh tribe of Mecca and slaughtered several hundred soldiers who came forward to defend them.
