After cancelling tour of Pakistan for no apparent reason, the England Cricket Board Chairman, Ian Whitmore after severe criticism from all quarters including from British Prime Minister, has resigned from his position.

First nail in the coffin of Cricket hegemony by the likes of India, Australia and England.
How do you see the dominance of India, Australia and England in ICC diminish in the foreseeable future? These 3 countries control the majority of revenue in Cricket. All other countries depend on the big 3 for support; this gives a lot of leverage in terms of votes from smaller members in ICC. With the success of IPL, even individual players (from outside India) are now giving consideration to dictates from BCCI.

Your speculation about the resignation of ECB chief and the recent cancellation of Pakistan tour may or may not be true. But either way, I don't think it will have any bearing in the dominance of Big 3 for the foreseeable future.

The mechanism that led to ECB decision must be scrutinised. A mere change of figurehead would not result in any trust rebuilding measure.

Consumerist corporate cricket culture, CCCC, would take a toll on anyone's personal and professional capabilities.

As you very well know that America is a superpower if not the only superpower,
It behaved like the world policeman and bulldozed anything or anyone that came in it's way or went against it......but as the saying goes, what goes up must always come down.
The big three cricketing nations may enjoy the power, coverage and head count.....but dictating to smaller nations is a thing of the past. As can be seen that in a possibly joint policy, they tried to embarrass Pakistan.
What is the logic for spending five days practicing and then just calling off the tour at the last minute without giving any reason or explanation. Apart from Pakistan protesting, the voices from within seems to have knocked some sense into the arrogant bunch and they realised it takes two to Tango.

I agree with you that positions of power are not permanent. It is just that at this stage the Big 3 control the money in this game. Cricket (like any other sport) is influenced by money as players have to make the most of it in their short careers.

I'm not convinced that it was an organized plot by the big 3 countries to throw a wrench in Cricket's comeback to Pakistan. From a Pakistani perspective, it may look like a possibility - but we do not have any evidence to suggest that. In fact, I see that there is a lot of support from the English cricket players to tour Pakistan next year. We may have to wait a bit longer to understand the reasons for the abrupt cancellations this year.

It seems more towards damage control rather than under pressure.
No idea what favour UK will ask in return, may ask Pakistan to avoid the J-17 deal with Argentina?

Nah, Big three's hegemony, read India's hegemony on cricket is binding and complete. No point wasting our resources in an enterprise in which we are at a severe disadvantage with no likelihood of any relief coming down the pike and that too in a dying sport.

The future of Cricket is in an NBA/Premier League type of structure where no one will give a crap about international games. India with it's sheer economic/market size and it's stated aim of harming Pakistan by using all instruments at its disposal will render Pakistan's participation in any meaningful way untenable. IPL will be the only game in town, will overshadow all other league cricket and top tiered players will be bullied into not participating in PSL.

It's high time we ditch cricket, field hockey and even squash and invest in sports with truly global reach and following, i.e. Soccer, Tennis, Golf, Athletics, boxing, Wrestling, MMA should be on top of the list.

They were under financial pressure in covid times when Pakistan sent them their cricket team from low danger area to hight risk country. Where was your big spending that time. It was Pakistan saved ECB a... that time. It was Pakistan who helped them in their difficult time..
