UN ready to mediate Pak-India peace talks
April 30, 2015
UNITED NATIONS - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stands ready to mediate peace talks between Pakistan and India provided the two neighbours accept his good offices, a world body's spokesman said Wednesday.

"We're available," Spokesman Farhan Haq told reporters when asked to comment on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s statement that India had failed to respond to Pakistan's desire for good relations between the two countries.

Nawaz told the Saudi Gazette said his acceptance of an invitation last May to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inauguration was “an exceptional decision”.

But months later, India withdrew from talks after Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit met Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

Even 1% Indians would not agree with you. Religion has no place in Indian politics. All of J&K including Azad Kashmir and GB belongs to India.

On topic...after Shimla, there is no UN

Farhan Haq is Pakistani origin diplomat and a loose cannon. He created a similar ruckus in 2010 too

What peace talks.Kashmir issue can never be solved.Legally Kashmir belongs to India,so Pakistan can do nothing.

India has rejected such third party mediation umpteen times.
Old wine in a new bottle!

Well, Ban-Kai-Moon may daydream as much as he want. Does not change the fact that UN is more powerless than king of Lesotho.

Had it been US, such offer may have carries some weight.

Legally, It belong to us. Remember, King signed instrument of accession with India, not Pakistan.

Your only claim on Kashmir is that: Kashmiris are muslim.

You mean this is a Pakistani circlejerk.

And if that is true, why wasn't he sacked in 2010 itself.

kashmiri doesnt means muslims only, it also include 100s of 1000s of hindus which were driven out of their own homeland by pakistan sponsored islamic terrorists, also sikhs and buddhist and they all hate pakistan. once Modi's satellite city project in J&K gets completed, the kashmiri pandits will be rehabilitated and then the islamic menace will be as good as over in J&K.

why would 3rd party mediation work if they impose a solution unfavorable to Pakistan ?
