RPV-16 thermobaric rocket launcher
Ukranian state UkrOboronProm concern, Association of multi-product enterprises in various sectors of the defence industry of Ukraine, has unveiled a new RPV-16 man-portable thermobaric rocket launcher.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov Oleksandr Turchynov paid a visit to the Honcharivskiy training ground of the Armed Forces of Ukraine where new models of weapons and military equipment developed by the Ukrainian defense industry were tested, including machine guns, sniper rifles, hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers, mortars, modern anti-tank missile systems and ammunition. During military drills was unveiled new RPV-16 thermobaric rocket launcher.

The RPV-16 ( Rocket-propelled Infantry Flamethrower 16) man-portable thermobaric weapon developed by State Scientific Research Institute of Chemical Products, a subsidiary of the UkrOboronProm state concern.

The RPV-16 man-portable thermobaric rocket launcher or flamethrower is meant for engagement of enemy’s personnel, placed both openly and in different structures, lightly-armoured and soft-skinned vehicles, destruction of protected buildings, surface and semi-embedded structures of stone, bricks or concrete.

The RPV-16 has effective range is 300 m, maximum sighting range is 1000 m.

Representatives of foreign military, interested in acquiring Ukrainian weapons, were also present at the training ground during tests

Note that this is an example of one of many modern weapons that have their warheads made in thermobaric explosive style warhead. For those who do not know what thermobaric is then the short explanation is that the new militaristic strategy now days is to not make a more powerful explosive warhead like made in the past that initiate first large combation and cool down extremely fast, but instead create an explosive (thermobaric) that initiate a lesser explosion yet to make the combation last numerous time longer.
