What's new

Ukraine says Pakistan could be a regional partner for the joint production of Antonov An-225.

Brother opening mouth is very easy

Since our army is defensive force we drop them in inside our airspace where indian long range SAM has no coverage and it will drop the items start of war for fast deployment first six hours of war this beast can deliver firepower or medics ammo etc in bulk numbers

Hai plz hamari aukat pa lecture needed
Like no Indian aircraft will ever be remotely close to our borders.
The aircraft has a colossal RCS (Look at its size)
It will be detected by radars just as it reaches a battlefield (what's the point of dropping them anywhere else?.)
This "beast" is a lumbering sloth in the air.
Military transport crafts need to be fast and most importantly be capable of air-dropping.
Extreme modifications are needed to convert the craft to open its doors in flight to drop resources.
Physics example: have you seen how a plane starts falling and rips apart in mid-air when a window is broken? Same goes for the AN-225 it was never designed to be used as a military plane. And thus has no such capability.
Opening mouth is indeed very easy when you know what you're saying.

.
It's a civilian cargo plane. Not a military transport plane.
You don't have to be in an enemy airspace to get shot. A MANPAD will do the trick.
Yes and if it was that easy - then why do we have around 600 Aircraft in our Air Force?

Yes and if it was that easy - then why do we have around 600 Aircraft in our Air Force?
Because they are fighter jets, manouverable, agile and built for such things.
Do refer to my earlier post.

Must have been a major miscommunication. Antonov is looking to push the An-178 and potentially even An-188 (A-400 class transport) to as many markets as possible. Pakistan has potential considering that it could at some level use new transport aircraft.

If anything, the An-178 (18 ton lift) would make for a good compliment to the C-130s. In fact, the air-to-air refuelling (AAR) version of the An-178 would make for a good tactical tanker system, perhaps even ideally suited for Pakistan and supporting the JF-17s (more so than the lumbering IL-78).

Besides the An-178 and An-188, I'd also be interested in the Grot 2 trainer. I think that platform has the potential to one day replace our K-8s and even serve as a LIFT.
can An-225 be modified as a air refueller??
@Zarvan @MaarKhoor

. . .
This is just candy to sell OPLOT, which has already failed trials...good luck to Ukraine to sell Old russian technology which their design bureaus and indigenous production houses cannot even support...

Apart from An-225 Pakistan and PAF can use these planes for sure

Pakistan should work with Ukraine to jointly develop civil & military planes in Pakistan for local and if possible international customers, 178, 188 or 70T or 171planes can be good to start with, it will develop our local aviation industry.

.
Great news if its true it will meet the Pak army transport requirements plus can be used to shift heavy machinary like tanks or air defence systems for quick deployment plus in emergency situation like flood earth quake it has a massive weight lifiting capacity of 200 tons to shift just in one flight.

.
Turkey is also looking for an heavy lift airplane for its Satellite program.
We should cooperate with Ukraine together.

If Pakistan needs urgently tankers we can stop gap with our KC-135 fleet.

.
Do you know what having a AN-225 means? It is a fuel guzzler, doesn't have STOL capabilities, needs special runways to land, requires humongous maintenance and is only used for carrying off-sized cargo.

How does PAF intend to justify its purchase?
Who said the PAF is going to use, It does not intend to deliver F-16's to the USA for upgrades.
The army is most likely to use it than any other force.
Or may be, Our satellite program is kicking up a gear.

Pakistan is going to be an important air transit point for cargo forwarding to central asia..and eastern china...Its cheaper to land at gwadar and forward by road or rail rather than landing from Europe into deep Central Asia..AN-225 Has seen the busiest time at Karachi hauling cargo for Afghanistan...the same formula..can be replicated for entire central asia with CPEC in operation..

most sensible post of the thread :enjoy:

sensible post

Exact. 3 - years ago when Chinese export boomed, most freight forwarders were looking for additional air transport capacity for value express goods.
The boom will happen again. Stagnation is a temporary trend.
In comparison to all NATO lifters except USA that bird is a giant.

.
Only ONE An-225 was made, For the Buran Space Program.
Its highly unlikely Pakistans getting one of these.
Though an An-124 Ruslan is possible.

.
It is a market gap, this technology could be a win win for Ukraine, Pakistan , Turkey and "maybe" others ? ( If US allows)

The An-225 has been contracted by the Canadian and U.S. governments to transport military supplies to the Middle East in support of coalition forces.
The single example built has the Ukrainian civil registration UR-82060.
