Ukraine Legalizes Foreigners in Ukraine Army

Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, adopted in the second reading on Tuesday a draft law on foreigners serving in Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

A total of 229 MPs supported the decision, above the required minimum of 226 votes.

An explanatory note for the document says the goal is to “increase the Armed Forces combat capability and reduce Ukraine’s human and financial losses resulting from combat actions in eastern Ukraine.”

Ukrainian lawmakers expressed confidence that after foreigners receive a legal possibility to serve in the country’s army, the country will get experienced and motivated units of up to 1,000 people.

Ukraine will be able to reduce the need to mobilize Ukrainian citizens and to cut the expenses for social benefits to the participants of the combat actions, handicapped people and families of victims.

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian MPs adopted in the first reading a draft law easing procedures to gain the country’s citizenship for foreigners serving in the Ukrainian army.

Two simplified procedures for granting the Ukrainian citizenship have been proposed. The first procedure envisages that the foreigners will need to live three years in Ukraine instead of five years.

Under the second procedure, foreign mercenaries, who received awards of the Ukrainian state, will not have to speak the Ukrainian language or confirm means of subsistence or permission for immigration.

Well, it's all kinda mess (with all that American involvment and fincancing extrimists in Ukr for years, just like in other places of the planet), see,for example I live in Russia, and my sister lives in Ternopol twn and brother in Polatava twn (both Ukraine); and this is like for millions of families. For sure, Russians are most separeted nation/people on the planet; so you could imagine how things are in this 'game'

Thats the problem with Russians though, you dont integrate, you move en masse often to settle lands and keep this Russian identity several generations down the line so that the motherland can one day claim other lands. You dont get it with any other nation but Russia strategically planted populations all along the old soviet border countries so that they can claim that they have people being targeted and give them rights to attack if need be

You have family in Ukraine for a generation or so, they are Ukrainian not Russian, im not going to claim quarter of the USA are British or Australians are British, such shit, even Somalis integrate into countries better than Russians and they are notoriously closeknit.

This practices, effectively adopted in almost all developed nation.

US Military will grant citizenship to Non-Citizens Permanent Resident who serve 1 overseas tour (or wounded while serving)

British Military allow Commonwealth Citizen (no ILR required) to serve in Regular Force and territorial army

French allow foreigner (no permanent residence required) to serve in FFL

Australia would grant citizenship to any non Citizen Permanent Resident upon 90 days service in regular force or 180 days in reserve.

I don't see how this is any kind of new development. Heck even Russia grant Special Citizenship to other (Becky Hammond) to serve Russian interest....

as someone that has met many Serbs and Russians. Russians aren't grumpy when you get to know them (in fact they are almost too chatty) Serbs however never seem to loose the social awkwardness.
not all Russians like the Serbs and i know three Russians that find them annoying.
