Question for UK members. In this kind of elections if UKIP (as an example) gets 10-12% of nation wide votes but doesn't outright win a seat in a constituency, they don't have representation in Parliament, right ? It doesn't really feel democratic,it's like 10-12 % of the voters don't exist,in here they get seats by redistribution if they have 5%+ nationwide.

.
Btw, the candidate I voted was elected for yet another term grabbing 78% votes of my constituency

.
Glad that the UkIP got whiped out..

Actually UKIP won a large popular vote-3,7 million votes but due to the way UK electoral system is built they get only 1 seat.As a comparison, the SNP with 1,45 million votes will get 56 seats. Not very democratic if you ask me.

. .
Good that Conservatives won. Conservatives are always good for India. Last time when Labour won, David Miliband created a storm by offering to mediate on Kashmir. David Cameron totally changed that position.

Hope Modi soon visit Britain
I believe one of your politicians referred to Milliband, who was 46 at the time, as a "young man" lol.

Just like the FN. They arrived 1st in many departments, but didn't get a single 1 (and if i remember, they had most of the votes.... Seriously, something is wrong with our system..

(National front is "blue-black")

And they will get more than @ss raped during the regional elections of 2015.

Actually they control almost all regions.

But according to this poll, the FN could at least win 2 regions,i really hope.

 Young man at 46!. David Miliband was responsible for deterioration of Indo-UK relations.when he made the remark on Kashmir in 2009.

Labour was always a little bit pro pak because traditionally pak muslims vote for Labour. while most british indians vote for conservatives.

Good system if you ask me. Atleast it keeps ultra-right out of power.

Conservative's been good to Muslims and that'll stay Inshallah.

UKIP's leader made ridiculous comments on Fox News regarding "Sharia Zones" in Britain and blah blah...

He got DESTROYED in today's nationwide elections with 65% turnout. Inshallah, a final nail in the coffin of budding ultra-right in UK.

Will most like announce his resignation tonight according to media reports and his wife:)

@Gabriel92

Why you want national front to win? They are an ultra right wing racist/bigoted party.

It is wrong, you perhaps don't even live in UK or you are biased

Well historically most South Asian countries specifically Pakistanis, Indians, Bangleshis and Sri Lankan's were all the stronghold of labour party. This is due to their vibrant approach towards foreign nationals unlike other parties at that time.

Now every party is diversified after realising the reality on ground. Most British Asians alongside other communities voted in favour of Conservatives thanks to the worst performance of labour, growing corruption scandals within Gordon Brown's cabinet and the recession which led people to change their vote. The unemployment rate was at its peak at that time and more n more jobseekers were eating the leftover allowance from government funds. The conservatives did well to tackle all these issues so now reaping the fruit of hard work

.
Voted for Labour only because of the local MP is decent and get something done here. Frankly I'm not a big fan of Labour, just had to vote out of necessity. Didn't want my vote to be wasted and go to parties like UKIP or BNP.

Confession- I'm becoming a slight pro Conservatives. Maybe next election they will have my vote if they perform good this term.

That's a unfair system and there has been a lot of debate regarding this. This system does seem to suit the larger parties.

It's just ridiculous that a party with 12% popular vote gets just 1 seat in Parliament. The only way is to distribute seats according to vote percentage with a minimum threshhold of 5% to get access in Parliament.

That's a unfair system and there has been a lot of debate regarding this. This system does seem to suit the larger parties.

Yeah,i'm watching the debate on BBC,CNN.They should change it.The Scots would probably foam at the mouth though,it works perfectly for them.

When you get 12 % of the votes you didn't get destroyed.12 % of voters agreed with him. It's fair to assume that many more agreed but they were afraid that if they gave their votes to UKIP they would only help Labour due to the electoral system and when you have to choose between Labour and Conservative there really isn't much of a choice.Anyway, you're celebrating in vain ,Labour was the party of minorities and immigrants and they got really kicked in the teeth.
