Abu Dhabi: The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has announced its full support for building the Shaikh Zayed Mosque in the Chinese city of Wuzhong, Ningxia, commemorating UAE Humanitarian Work Day which is dedicated to the memory of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and in remembrance of his philanthropic efforts all over the world.
The Shaikh Zayed mosque will house 1,000 worshippers, ablution areas and toilets, with separate facilities for men and women. The project will also provide a residence for the incumbent imam within its structure, along with a reception area, store, and other necessary amenities.
The city of Wuzhong is home to a large Muslim population, and this project will cater to the religious and spiritual needs of its residents to offer prayers and partake in religious rites, in addition to augmenting their understanding of the tenets of science.
This mosque aims to be a meeting place for its residents to convene and discuss religious and scientific views, and an arena for modern thinking in keeping with traditional Islamic orientation.
