One of the biggest and fastest growing economy is just next to Pakistan to get huge much needed investment. You are doing business with India Indirectly anyway.
In 2013 trade between India and Pakistan was 2.3 billion dollars whereas indirect trade happening via dubai is said to be twice that amount. Thats 2013 two years ago. There is huge opportunity for both countries. Economic development is the best way to counter extremism.

Pakistanis need to remember the big money coming in form of remittances from migrant pakistani workers in those Arab countries.

Best way to counter growing Indian clout is with the help of India.

Great news. I am not denying there are no benefits in our relationship with UAE but too many of our people have too much of high regard for UAE. This is disproportionate to the benefits that accrue to Pakistan.

I may sound shallow and one dimensional but apart from China, any relationship we have with any other country at best means very little to Pakistan. The likes of UAE, other GCC states, USA, EU etc have never and can never do anything that benefits Pakistan in anyway whatsoever. They have never done anything that has changed the ground realities in Pakistan positively or given Pakistan anything of substance. It was China, and China alone that helped develop and make Pakistan a nuclear weapons state. It was China that has always helped in our nations infrastructure development projects and develop all aspects of the Pakistan military. It is China that is now trying to make Pakistan a fully industrialized nation and given our economy the biggest boost in it's entire history. So if UAE, GCC, USA, EU and all the others broke of all ties with us it would mean nothing in the end. Our relationship with China is the only one that means something. Everything else is meaningless:

The US, UAE, and the EU are still few of the biggest investors, and trade partners that Pakistan has. Saying they've done nothing is a false assumption, that's actually quite popular among Pakistanis. The US has done the most in terms of helping Pakistan's education sector, along with the UK, and the EU has ignored it's own rules to let Pakistan gain access to it's markets. the UAE is still a major investor in Pakistan (which is actually one the rise, despite tensions). The US has also given a lot of grants to Pakistan, and is known to politically defend Pakistan's nuclear weapons program, despite international opposition led by India. In fact, I would say that because of the US's support, Pakistan is pretty much an accepted (undeclared) international nuclear power.

Saying these nations did nothing for Pakistan is as absurd as say that they've done everything for Pakistan, neither statement is true.

Will you send your soldiers to the UAE to stifle any rebellion, like Pakistan did in Bahrain? Will you guarantee their rule, by sending military personnel to guard important government sites? Probably not. Will you guarantee their territorial integrity, and involve yourself in a war that involves the Arabs, and (the most likely candidate) Iran? Again, probably not.

This isn't about being weak, India is far stronger than Pakistan, but there are just some things that India cannot and will not provide to the UAE.

Geopolitics is hardly about might makes right.

i tatally agree with you on that. there are some things which only Pakistan can do for arabs. at any cost we will never send our soldiers to fight others wars. we will never send our troops to guard Arabs.
