April 7 - United Arab Emirates (UAE) are interested in purchasing Sea Launch international project; in the network of this project Zenit rockets are launched from a floating spaceport, Nezavisimaya gazeta reports with reference to a source close to Russian rocket and space industry.
“UAE expressed interest in this project. Russia and UAE held several meetings, but now the intensity of negotiations lowered,” the source said. According to him, the slump may be caused by decrease in oil prices.
The source noted that UAE established their own space agency only two years ago and it will be advantageous for them to get a ready space infrastructure, high-skilled professionals and the famous brand having its own order backlog.
