UAE and US working to contain Iran, says Gargash

The UAE's partnership with the US is grounded in a shared outlook for a more peaceful, prosperous Middle East region.

Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, affirmed the UAE's strong partnership with the US on a range of strategic, security and economic matters, during his meetings with senior US government officials and policy analysts.

"Through deep cooperation on joint security priorities, the UAE and the US are working together to address Iran's destabilising role in the region and defeat extremism," said Dr Gargash, during his US visit. "The UAE's partnership with the US is grounded in a shared outlook for a more peaceful, prosperous Middle East region."

Dr Gargash discussed ongoing efforts -undertaken in close cooperation with the UN, humanitarian organisations and other non-governmental organisations - to achieve a political solution to the situation in Yemen.

He expressed support for UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths and called on the Iran-backed Houthis to end their obstruction of peace efforts, honour their commitments to withdraw from Hodeidah city and ports, and allow aid to reach those in need.

Dr Gargash praised the dedicated efforts of the humanitarian organisations that are providing relief in Hodeidah and other areas of Yemen and underscored the UAE's ongoing commitment to deliver aid. "In a turbulent and dangerous region, the UAE is unwavering in its commitment to the core values of stability, tolerance and peaceful coexistence," he said.

Dr Gargash also noted the UAE-US cooperation to counter extremist groups such as Al Qaeda and Daesh.

They hardly have acted against Iran in the region, we only see them taking steps against Turkey, Qatar and MB affiliated parties in North Africa/Levant. Just like how Iranians talk big against Israel but mostly trying to expand influence in Arab nations.

no nukes will be used, Iran is too smart to be trapped in an nuclear war with Israel we set the clock on 25 years for Israel and that's because Iran is playing the long game and it dose not want do destroy its cities and damage its infrastructure in a direct war. and for all of the people that are asking them self why is Iran planning for the next 100 years in the Middle East well that's because Iran wants to be the absolute super power of the region, and Iran does not allow Israel or any country to block its path and prevent it from reaching its goal. its that simple and every one can see it one day.

Arab nations around Israel struggle economically and that will remain the case for nations like Syria, Lebanon and Jordan for awhile. For economic prosperity first they need real security. Dictatorships only give false sense of security and can not secure Arabs from foreign threats. Once they are politically/militarily competent/secure then they can develop properly. I don't think Iran can get them to that point or need to heavily get involved. As for defeating Israel that can happen under any conditions through sincere Jihad.

agreed, Iran must be ready to get involved if it want to be powerful and they showed readiness if you look at what Iran is doing in M.E, but i agree alot of thing must chance and is changing took at Iran plans for politically,militarily,economy Iraq and Syria and Lebanon in 30 years.
