BEIJING: US Secretary of State John Kerry admitted that the Iraq war was a serious mistake for which the sufferings continued even today, Geo News reported on Tuesday.

In an interview to Chinese news agency, US Secretary of State, John Kerry said he had termed this decision of former President George Bush going for war on Iraq a grave mistake.

Even today, the region's many problems are caused by the Iraq war, the U.S. is trying to address, citing example of President Obama’s pulling out the troops from Iraq, he said.

The statement of the US Secretary of State has come at a time when Iraq has already suffered an irreparable loss and the country is bleeding in a civil war.

Of course it was.

Every sane person that knows anything about the region could have predicted all this mess.

Iraq needs a secular strongman like Saddam Hussein. If he was still in power there would be law and order and the Kurds and Farsis would know their place. They both learned it the hard way.

Saddam was a moron genocider, and mentally ill person. USA did a right decision to eliminate that bastard. The mess which is created now, is a result of Saudi money and mullah arms, and stupidity of local people. it has nothing to do with USA.

It was a retarded war which cost trillions to the americans and 5000 dead and many thousands wounded and hurt their place in the world, whist it destroyed iraq

Nation building is a long task and may not succeed

Saddam was a great man that taught the fake wannabe Arab Mullah's a lesson they still feel to this day and the Kurds too.

Once Saddam Hussein was gone law and order went the same way.

Shia's cannot rule a single country in a competent manner as they are not used to power.

Removing the entire state apparatus and making hundred of thousands of people jobless in a matter of weeks was a recipe for trouble. Aside from the bullshit system the Americans implemented that does not work anywhere in the ME.

Not just Iraq, all other countries they've invaded were big mistakes.

Once again the same rant. India had told them clearly that they wer doing a big mistake but they din't listen. i do not know why these Americans do not have common sense.

Ehm... why would they listen to India which shares no cultural, geographic or historical similarity to the scenario? India was nowhere in the picture at all.

In afghanistan they had some valid reason to remove a regime supporting 9/11 attackers. But iraq was totally nonsense.

All 9/11 attackers were Saudis

Was he going for the "Understatement of the century" award with that statement?

It was a mistake long before a flare up of sectarian civil war combined with Syrian-war veteran extremists to create the fustercluck that is currently on display.

Sure, it was the right thing to do to put an end to him once and for all in the first Gulf War. Their mistake was that they didn't finish the war in the first place.

ISIS does not depend nor trust anyone. Not your average rag and tag militia.

Eliminating Saddam was definitely a noble action. The USA problem was that she was thinking that Arabs can build a civil society after some time, while they are more backward to do so. So, US continued helping iraq by spending billion to maintain peace in Iraq, while it was fruitless, since arabs do not have the mental and cultural capacity to build a civil society, and instead started to mess around from the beginning.
