(Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew will travel to China on Friday to meet Chinese officials next week, the U.S. Treasury said in a statement on Wednesday.
It said Lew would travel from March 28 to 31 "to hold discussions with senior Chinese officials on the U.S., Chinese, and global economies."

:rofl::rofl:First Americans bashed China's AIIB initiative like no brainers, now they're rushing to meet the end of march dead line set by China. I don't want to speculate what will be the secret deal, maybe China will give US face saving by invite it to Join AIIB instead of let US to beg us in order to get in. It will be a great laugh of 21st century if US is able to jump into the train on time while Japan missed the opportunity  and AIIB countries will all say Sayōnara to Japan:wave:
(People still remember the former ask and pressure the latter not to join AIIB while itself is preparing to go to Beijing for secret deal:disagree:)

Now the count down start for the deadline...let see who will jump in on time..seem like Canada is eager to take part...we shall see about that.:smokin:

Australia may join China-led AIIB bank if conditions met

Australia said its "prepared to join" a new China-led infrastructure bank should certain conditions be met.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott said the country had been talking to China about how the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) would be governed.

He added that a decision will be made "in the next few days".

Britain, France and Germany have also announced plans to join the new Beijing-based lender, which is seen as a rival to the World Bank.

However, that has drawn concern from the US, which sees the AIIB as a tool which China can use to extend its political influence.

Washington has also said the new lender needs to meet international governance and other standards.

"We have been talking to the Chinese to try to ensure that it is in fact a multilateral institution, that it is run in all important respects by a board, that its processes are transparent, that it is genuinely accountable and that it is not controlled by any one entity," Mr Abbott told Australia's parliament.

The AIIB has more than 30 members and countries have until the end of March to decide whether or not they would seek membership.

The institution will have about $50bn (£34bn) in initial funds that will be disbursed to help address the region's growing demand for roads, ports and other infrastructure facilities.

. . . . . .
yep, coincidentally between 28-31. I'll buy that.

This remind me of the secret visite of Kissinger to China in 1970s, it had done in secrecy and caught Japan with great surprise and consternation that US got used to bash communist countries but allowed itself to establish a diplomatic relation with China without consulting Japan. This is a similar situation, Lew pretents visit China for other raison than AIIB and not even bother to consult Japan, it will be a fiasco if later AIIB admit US as last member at the closing door ceremony while Japan still wondering and wait for US's permission .

That would be hilarious if the US undercut Japan again. LOL
