U.S., China military planes come inadvertently close over South China Sea

A defense ministry official, who requested anonymity, told the Global Times that a US plane approached a Chinese military jet that was carrying a routine mission near the Huangyan Island and the Chinese pilot responded with legal and professional measures.
The issue raised by the US was not legality -- but SAFETY.

If you approach someone, it is YOUR responsibility to maintain safe separation, not his duty to move away from you. It does not matter even if he is in your territorial airspace. Safe flying gives priority to the flyer who is already on a steady course/heading. If you want him to follow you, give the appropriate instructions/signals, then lead. As he follows you, then it is his duty to maintain safe separation while it is your duty to maintain that steady course/heading.

The Chinese government representative said that it was the American P-3C who approached the Chinese KJ-2000.

A second official said that the American P-3 had to alter course to ensure that there wasn't an aerial collision.
If the American P-3 had to alter its course, that mean it was the Chinese KJ that approached it.

The question now is which source to believe.

Then the vid should not say "UN ambassador" instead he should have said "Former Ambassador". How would Ior anyone not singaporean or following singapore politics know he WAS a former UN Ambassador, there were probably hundreds if not thousand of those, I don't even know who he is.

And you are wrong, the immediately thread is Japan, you need to start there. Guam is too far for China to start.

Japan ? Been there done that.

Guam is next.

Point is this. It's all about posturing.
If US sends B-52 to East China Sea show off China can send H6 to Guan.
If US sends F22 off the coast of China to show off, China will send J-20 to Guan.
If US send aircraft carrier to intimidating China. China will send their aircraft carrier to Guan.

That was the point the twice former UN ambassador of Singapore was trying to make.

First, of all, How hard for you people to learn how to spell?? It's G.U.A.M, not G.U.A.N it's native indian word, not a Chinese word.

Second of all, so what? China deploy 40 aircraft to the western pacific? Do you think sending a few H-6K point at Japan will change anything??

And more importantly, even China is sending 40 aircraft toward Japan, NONE OF THEM DARED TO ENTER JAPANESE AIRSPACE...quote formthe article you supplied

The aircraft flew through the Miyako Strait between the Japanese islands of Okinawa and Miyako in the East China Sea, prompting the Japan Air Self-Defense Force to scramble fighters, although no Chinese intrusion into Japanese airspace was recorded, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD) in Tokyo.

And lol you can't send J-20 to Guam, it's too far and out of any fighter range the closest Chinese Airfield is at Sansha, which is till 1900 nautical miles away I don't know how big you want to make J-20 into, they won't be able to travel that far, unless you have enough Mid-Air refueller, and I still wait to see any Carrier group try to enter 12nm within Guam, but I did see B-52 enter 12nm of Chinese Claim territories, well, don't just talk, it's time to do something, show us what China made of.

The former ambassdor is trying to say today if the US act like an renegate, then when China is stronger than the US, they will do the same, the keyword is "IF", there are something that's never change, Guam will always be US territories and it will always be in Asia. It's always going to favor US in a fight, it's naive to think otherwise.
