Two Pakistani engineering students among top 10 in international contest

KARACHI, Oct 21 (APP): Two Pakistani engineering students are among the top 10 finalists who will compete for a share of dollars 45,000 in prize money for Siemens Student Award 2011. An official of the organization said here on Friday that the Siemens Student Award 2011 is seeking what was termed as one of the world’s toughest questions: “ How can you build sustainable cities in the desert”. He said that as many as 630 ideas were submitted by university students throughout the Middle East.

The 10 finalists have been selected from universities in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan. Their ideas will be evaluated by an international jury panel.
Three winners will be announced at an award ceremony in Doha, Qatar, on November 1. The winners will take home a share of dollars 45,000.

Ten finalists include two from Pakistan. They are: Ali Sajid Malik of the NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi and Ahmedullah Mazullah of the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.

Ali Hamdani, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Pakistan, said that Siemens is committed to building local talent that determines the wealth of future generation.

Well that's their way of doing brain drain. Though they would not steal ideas alone instead they would steal the ppl who created those ideas themselves.
